In A word this 1974 Dodge Challenger is "Perfection". A little back story, we wanted to build the absolute meaning of a pro touring car. One that a person could get in and drive cross country with the modern equipment that we have now.The bad to the bone look of a muscle car, what better than the Dodge Challenger!!!! With the look of a Pit Bull how could one resist the urge to not.
We started off with under carriage Knowing that all the fundamentals of a cross country pro touring car needs to have a solid backbone we contacted our buddies at Hotchkis! After two months of fabricating and full front and back kit this 74 rides like a VIPER.
All bushing's are Polly urethane and all front end parts new.
Once the back bone was installed we went with the heart. In came the 440. Now we new we had to ditch the carburetor so we contacted one of the best in the business IMAGINE INJECTION INC, Bob was great he got us hooked up with a EZ EFI injection system coupled along with the built 440 "New Heads, Pistons, Rings, Cam, ECT" and a Massive fuel pump that could handle and work perfect, we were now in business. The system is controlled by a screen on the inside. This system can be tweaked however the situation presents. Bob has been in magazines all over and has one of the best reputations in the business so he was the only choice.
We had bullet proof transmission pair the 440 with a heavy duty Chrysler automatic that would give us the feature comfort when the cross country rally's took place. Arizona Drive Shaft wrapped it up with a fully built 373 that gave it great bottom end torque and allowed us to reach top end speeds of 120mph. We now had the meat on the bones.
High flow radiator and MSD was a must, but now we needed to think about stopping all this power. One phone call to summit we had front and back drilled and slotted rotors with calipers, brake booster, master cylinder and lines. We also had the great guys at summit send us all new wiring for the dash cluster and lower gauge.
The Chrome was all there and OEM, however it needed a face lift we sent all the chrome out for re plating and repair. Boy I must say it looks amazing. Why all the chrome was getting done we started on the paint and body. Nessie's paint and body did a killer job on the rally red and topped with the RT stripe Kit this shines, shines, shines.
Last came the Fully Killer ONE OFF custom wheels. Lexani took this 74 to the next level with these bad boys. Rims alone are $1500.00 per wheel. Once we were done we could not help but think we needed A/C!!! Arizona gets up to 120% in the summertime and vintage a/c was a must.
The amount of time and love that went into this build was bar none, here is a list of the major parts and i am sure ill forget something!
