Description:
1948 Chrysler Highlander
Here is a very nice 1948 Chrysler Highlander Convertible..in a nice factory original dark blue color. I believe they call it St. Claire Blue...I have had this car for over 15 years, always been inside, and I have done a TON of work to it. It's almost done...and I have run out of steam. The old Washington plate is still on the car..last licensed in 1967.1953 Desoto "Fire Dome" Hemi v-8, all professionally rebuilt(with receipts) by Richard Tabor's Automotive Machine shop, Vancouver,Wa. Richard build race motors for many of the local drag racers and is a Hemi expert. The motor has been shop run and the cam has been broken in correctly. mated to a Mopar 4-speed trans. Motor mounts and trans mounts/crossmember new . Engine bay sheet metal work all done to look stock..excellent workmanship to install that v-8 in where a flathead 6 resided. Brake shoes and wheel cylinders all new. Brand new Coker tires all the way around and original hubcaps with new trim rings. The original wiring is in very decent shape..These cars had Auger screw-type convertible top motors..not hydraulic like most...trouble free and they work. Was a much better idea in my opinion. The top frame is reconditioned and a newEZ black top is included..still in the box. see photos. All the upholstery is done in the exact match to the original highlander plaid..except the burgundy on the seat is real Leather and not vinyl. Carpet is new. This car is super solid..minor welding underneath in a couple spots... see bare floors photo with seats and carpet out..Trunk, sills and body panels super solid.Original Paint car with nice patina..maybe wet sand it and clearcoat if you want that unrestored original look or just polish it. I have not taken chrome polish or paint polish to this car yet. It will come alive. It needs a driveshaft, clutch/shifter linkage hooked up and some misc. wing, like ignition switch etc.The Hemi Engine was just run and the cam broken in..has breakin oil in it now.also have a new aluminum radiator..stock radiator(pictured) is exceptionally nice....some rechroming has been done..hood bird, fender spear and all the rest is original brightwork in above average condition. This car does not need much to finish and to enjoy. All the hard work is done. This is a rare, primo dry, not rusty, never damaged Western car, not a midwest rust wagon.Never driven in salt, always inside. You just don't find them like this..Western US car. Go find a stock one, do what I have done with the mechanical, upholstery, hemi v-8 at the machine shop, fabricate all the fitments and mounting and see how much you spend. you'd be losing money just like me on this project...it's a deal...Wouldmake a great Father Son project to finish. Very cool car for you Mopar lovers of the Art Deco design age. Please call Jay for more information. 360-852-0589. Thanks for viewing.buy with confidence...I'm 100% since 1999I will gladly assist overseas buyers
