Description:
1946 DeSoto Custom
Solid and rust free original appearing vintage Desoto. Iconic postwar American iron. I have owned this car for over six years, but have not been able to work on it as I wished to due to health issues. The Desoto was given an amateur restoration at some point in the past. Repainted original blue and had some re-chroming done. Motor was painted and engine bay cleaned up. Looks like a new correct wiring harness was installed at that time. Interior is original and has some staining and minor moth damage, especially on the rear seat. Small split on drivers side of front seat cushion. Door panels intact but vinyl at bottom of doors could stand to be replaced. Dash and window moldings look pretty good. Drivers door molding woodgraining worn. Glass all good except for scratches on driver side windshield. Wind lace worn toward bottom by front doors. Carpet worn. Gauges work. Lights work. Turn signals work. Radio, clock and horn do not. Heater/Defroster works but the temperature control is not functioning. Headliner original and intact except for very minor hole at top of driver side A pillar. Not water stained. Body has a few minor dings and chips etc. Paint is lifting in center of roof. The only damage of note is the right front end of the rocker panel. It is pushed in slightly so that the front clip for the lower stainless trim is not fastened. Should be able to be pulled out. The door lock cylinders appear to have been installed with some sort of adhesive by a prior owner. The right one came loose and is with the car. The set screw head to hold the lock is messed up. Will need to be replaced to fix these. The motor is a bit noisy but runs fine. The fluid drive operates as it should. The drive train does have some leakage. Seals would be good to replace. Maintains 40 psi oil pressure when driven. I usually take this out once per week for a 20+ mile drive. It does fine. As I said, it needs TLC that I can't do anymore. I believe a full tune up would do wonders. Please ask any questions before bidding. I do not wish any help in selling this vehicle and I am not interested in any trades. A significant amount of parts goes with the car if my reserve is met. Vehicle is sold as is, where it is. No warranty is given or impliedVehicle Details:
