1949 Desoto Custom Coupe 2Dr
The "Custom" was Desoto's highest trim level car available.
Engine runs great and transmission is solid. 236Ci engine with the fluid drive Transmission.
The car was repainted, base clear, clear is peeling on the roof and trunk areas.
Doors, hood and trunk all open and close nice.
The trim and bright work is in pretty good shape with some pitting but not horrible. Hub caps are very nice.Spot light works!
The left rear fender has a couple dents (see pics) and the bumper is bent down a little.
Tires are in good shape and have tons of tread.
There is a little rust in the car.Left rear of the car where the fender meets the body there is a little, also the same area inside the trunk floor (see pics)
The spare tire well also has a little rust. (See pics)
I found a small amount of rust on the driver side floor where it meets the door jamb (see pics).
Overall the car has very little rust!
The wiring harness was replaced with a Ron Francis replacement 6 volt harness in the early 2000's.
The seats, door panels carpet, rear panels and headliner were all reupholstered around that same time and still look pretty good.
Amp, temp, oil press and speedo gauges all work. The fuel gauge and clock do not.Heater also works.
The engine and transmission appear to have been freshened up, since they are very clean and new gaskets can be seen.
See pics below. The underside looks dirty but that is mostly the undercoating with a little dirt overtop thats making it look clumpy.
The car is very pleasurable to drive and can be driven as is or taken the extra little bit to make it really nice.
