1975 Datsun Z-Series
Hello Fairlady Fans,This is a real S30 Fairlady in very nice condition.First, some history.I had bought it disassembled and half restored 12 years ago and had to redo most of the previous work to repaint it and assemble it.It has been off the road since the 80s when the second/third owner started buying new NOS parts for it.It has a new Nissan parts dashpad, fuel tank, side and rear glass, console, emblems and marker lights. NOS parts are great. This car has 112,000 Kilometers on it, so that is about 70,000 miles.
The engine:The original 2.0L 6 cylinder engine, a short block, with a bare cylinder head came with the car but is missing the intake and carbs etc. The 2.0L is included with the car sale. She currently has a US 280Z 2.8L EFI with 5 speed manual and R200 rear differential from a donor car. This is a 1979 F54 block which was rebuilt some years ago and retains the early N42 cylinder head. It runs very nice and powerful. There are a couple of items under the hood missing, the wiper washer bottle and the work light.
The suspension:While putting it together the complete suspension was blasted to nice bare steel and each piece was powder coated with "Satin, Low Gloss Clear Powder Coat". The visual is effect is incredible and everything is easy to see and cleans up really beautiful. The wheels are an XXR 17x8 with 225/45r17. These tires and wheels fit great on the rear but are a bit wide on the front so I had to use BC racing coilovers up front which have a smaller diameter spring to make them clear properly. The new rear coilovers are still in the box and the original struts are still in place. The cars drives straight and smooth at any speed and is a pleasure to drive.
The Interior:The red interior is velour and was already done when I received it and is very nice. The only problem with the car is the original RHD control stalks on the column are reversed for the Japanese cars which means the blinker is on the right and the headlight / wiper is on the left and I did not get those with this car. The US ones on the car now work for everything except the wipers which do not currently work. Also, the wiring stub from the firewall harness that goes to the radio, hazards etc is also Japanese only as I have come to realize. So, with these issues, the easiest thing to do, in my mind, is change the harness to a US style 280z, which I currently have, and it goes with the car. This involves pulling the dash and swap it out.I had tried to reach out to some Japanese shops for original parts but never could connect with anyone who had any parts.
The Body:The paint is a 2013 Nissan pearl white with clear. There are patches in the front floor footwell areas that were repaired previously. The bottom of the frame rails were starting to get some holes, which is very common on Zs, so I had new metal bent and welded in to repair them and they look great. The quarter panels did have a small hole in front of the rear tires and were also patched years ago. There was also a front radiator support replaced due to a small accident way back and it looks very good now. I am being perfectly honest about the condition for everyone's sake. The original restoration in the early 90s had the marker lights and antenna closed off by welding in steel patches. The rear tail lights are U.S. style red ones and the original JDM versions had amber turn indicator lenses. Quite easy to swap out.The doors and window all work perfectly and smooth. The transmission, clutch, brakes and steering all work superbly. This car is reliable and easy to drive. I use to drive it regularly on 200 mile trips to see family. We added the reproduction flares, as you can see, and like the look of them. These flares were a Japanese only option item on the "ZG" model JDM cars. These flares are bolted into Nutserts in the fenders and the complete fender is still intact underneath. The front spoiler is also aftermarket and we love the look as well. The original front valance also comes with the car.The car is a blast to drive and gets an incredible amount of attention since nobody has really seen these cars in the U.S.I have a lot of photos so please let me know what you would like to see.I have the original parts and some documents also that I could not photograph due to severe space limitations here.
You would have to coordinate shipping or picking it up here in Denver / Centennial, CO.Monetary transfer by bank wire transfer is preferable.
Thank you for looking and bidding,
David
