Description:

1973 Datsun Z-Series

GREAT little Z, deserving of a good home! I purchased her in October 2016 from Orange Co., CA. Accident-free and ready to enjoy. Always a California car The previous owner loved this car and was pretty meticulous about it I believe. I am the 3rd owner. An incredibly collectible vehicle that is very much a head turner! The main reason I'm selling is that I have to downsize due to a pending relocation, and I won't have the room I once had. I have not driven it all that much so I haven't added very many miles. I have records on all I have had done since purchase, (as well as a few from the 2nd owner) which includes the following:
1) Replaced ignition rotor, re-gapped plugs, checked fuel system operation and cleaned fuel system.2) R & R thermostat, gasket, and coolant. R & R fan clutch.3) Applied rubberized undercoating, removed floor cover and installed sound proofing insulation, including the hatch area. Installed new carpet. Removed existing radio and installed new radio with 'Kicker' speakers.4) R & R fuel hoses on fuel tank. R & R all rubber seals and replaced bumpers.5) R & R w. new valve cover and gaskets/bolts, adjust valves, R & R fuel filter, rebuilt carburetor.TOTAL for this invoice was $3,195.42.
Additionally,
1) R & R rear wheel cylinders and brake lines. R & R front brake lines also.2) Replaced electric fuel pump, repaired a burnt out tail light, R & R front bumper stops.TOTAL for this invoice was $1,179.85.
It has two sets of wheels. The stock ones including the 4 hubcaps, and the aluminum dish mags (they shine well), Both sets of tires have a LOT of tread on them. I installed new front and rear bumpers as the old ones were not as eye-appealing as I wanted due to their age. You will see that some of the pics show the old ones. The new ones are completely straight with no bumperettes or bars. Rust is not an issue on this car. When I bought the car the previous owner had the stock motor and trans. rebuilt about 6,000 miles prior (around 96-97k). Small slit in the headliner (hardly noticeable) but wanted to mention it. The forest green paint is very eye-catching, and in really good condition. It was repainted by the second owner. Windshield was removed and replaced (with new) during paint, and the rear window was removed while being painted as well, but not replaced with new. The interior is very nice overall. The seat upholstery was replaced with a factory kit using stock specs. The dash was given a full replacement cover correct for the year, not a cheap dash cap. Original steering wheel is in good shape. Door panels have some light wear in spots. Air conditioning was upgraded to now having a rotary compressor. Brand new battery. I would honestly rate the exterior a 9, and the interior at least a 7. Does not smoke. Shifts properly through all 4 gears. New gas cap with a locking outer door. Horn works as do the speedo and tach. Clock is intermittent. Power antenna works, no missing emblems. I changed out both side view mirrors to the chrome ones, which look 100% better in my opinion.
Car is still located in dry, southern California. I am a mature owner who does not abuse vehicles, especially mine. I do not modify or race. I'll leave that to the younger generation! In fact, I treat them like my grandkids - probably better! It is always kept in the garage when not being driven. I have the CA blue plates which will be included. Come see the car yourself during the auction if you like. All sales are final. NO warranty implied or offered. If you like Z's as much as I do, you'll definitely grow to love this one. I bought my first Z in 1975 (a 280 - my Dad co-signed) and I still have it! Consider this to be not only fun, but also an excellent investment as they become rarer as time passes. Absolutely hate to sell but "you can't take them with you", and as I said before, I won't have the space anymore. Wish I could keep her in the family but I have no heirs with interests in my older cars. Don't let this one get away and come drive it home! Payment due within 3 days of auction close. Buyer to arrange shipping if needed.
