Description:
1972 Datsun Z-Series
1972 Datsun 240Z with L28ETI keep adjustiing the listing due to forgetting a few items and honestly I dont want to sell it but, a local vehicle is for sale that I really want and I want to get into.
This is the life of owning a Z sometimes you just have to let it go. You don't come across machines like this often that get driven and taken everywhere possible where the road leads.I bought this Z sight unseen.Did i regret it. NO. Did it run when I got it. NO.Was I told that it was perfectly fine and running like a top? YES.
This Z was a childhood dream for me.If you look at my previous sales I had one that looked almost identical to this one.I spent a ton of money on it and I always dreamed of having the current set up.When I found this, it was quietly resting in San Diego, California. This Z has lived most of its life in Hot climates and the chassis is impeccable but not perfect..Unbelievably for a car of this age there is NO rot on the floors and everything is as clean as I can see.Its driven daily. It got nudged recently on the nose and on the rear but nothing major or structural. This happened during the car being stationary. She used to be a cover shop car for JPN Garage. Google Image the name and the Z will pop right up.This car has been in almost every Instagram profile like and all over the internet..
I literally spent a fortune to get this car the way it is running and driving properly.
Its not done but its nearly there, for the right buyer its perfect the way she is.If you need a clean restoration base this is the car to get. It has NOT been restored down to the bone but all the window seals minus the quarter windows have been replaced.A-lot of items were changed as in front and rear seals and door seals. So you have a leak free beast.Everything works.Heater works perfect. I custom made a Autometer RPM gauge on the factory housing since the original one bounced like a basket ball.
Fuse box and all the electrical components were upgraded to modern standards.MSA Headlight relay kit also. You will see down below on the list the amounts up upgrades that were performed. The rear stud shafts were also upgraded and ALL the bearings were replaced with new corresponding races. Rear brake line was replaced and all the brake fluid was flushed with fresh motul fluid. The motor was recently rebuilt by the previous owner and the head is as silent as a V12 Benz.
Its truly a great car and I love the memories I've had with it but I just don't have the means or resources to go that extra step. She was driven up and down the east coast without missing a beat. Boston, Cape Cod, and back and forth to NYC.
Would be great for someone who has Z shops near or the Knowledge to go buck wild on a S30.
The next thing I was in the process of doing was giving the transmission a complete overhaul. This is NOT a T5 transmission as the previous owner listed. Its a standard 5 speed ZX transmission. They can hold up power fine but quality rebuild kits should be used when attempting to refurb it.The previous owner seemed to either rush or skimp on this part as the transmission tends to be noisey but goes away when you press down on the clutch. The gears are smooth and the trans rows perfectly fine but a proper rebuild should be on the list.
She could also use a modern engine management system. The stock ECCS does work fine and i replaced anything and every sensor that could fail.
The fuel system was also gone over with new lines and new fuel pump and new FPR.Brand new injectors (6) the Air Flow Meter was also taken apart cleaned and resealed.
The custom exhaust system was also fixed up.Everything was welded in one piece...I took the Z to a custom exhaust place and added a 2.5 inch flange kit so you can now remove the down pipe for service to the transmission or turbo manifold. It also have a flex pipe welded in with the proper mounts.I did not get a chance to fit the right muffler to her as I was still deciding the route to go.Being turbo its honestly not that bad as the turbo muffles most of the sound. The muffler that was on there was on its last leg.Shes currently 2.5 all the way back to from the turbo outlet to the tip.
The wheels are very rare discontinuted Work Glowstar wheels from Japan. They fit the custom JPN Garage flares currently on the car. They retail for 3000.00 Just so you know. They also come wrapped in Advan AD08R tires.
Also included are very very rare and custom ordered Marugen Shoukai fender flares.
3 Month waits from Japan.
DISCLAIMER
Please understand that this is a nearly 50 year old car..I am not responsible for wild driving after the purchase of this Z.Its not perfectly rust free. No car un-restored is.I have tried my best to protect the rockers from chips that can cause open wounds to the metal bringing in rust.Used high quality 3M vinyl wrap to match the body of the car.
A video of the Z running and driving can be shown on request .
Please remember that I am open to offers and it will be your responsibility to pick her up and take her away.I believe that the asking price is reasonable and great considering that the Z is on the rise as far as prices go.
