BEING RELISTED DUE TO A NON-PAYING BIDDER - BIDDER INFO: Bidder ID: CYBERBUY2014 BOUGHT CAR AND THEN WANTS IT FOR $20,000 LESS BECAUSE ITS SIGHT UNSEEN AND IF NOT - IN HIS WORDS - "GOOD LUCK !!!"This all steal, all real 1937 Cord Westchester 812, FORMERLY PART OF THE PRATTE COLLECTION, started life as a 4 door sedan, but now has been transformed into one of the best looking street rods ever made. The Jaguar's front and rear subframe assemblies is from the XJ6. The entire front suspension assembly consisted of power-assisted rack & pinon steering, coil-over shocks, upper and lower control arms and anti-roll bar. Also in its own cradle the fully independent rear suspension including in-board disk breaks, lower control arms, longitudinal links, coil-over shocks and anti -roll bar. While the hood and side fenders are stock a lot of fabricating went into the turning fenders, mounting the fenders to turn with the wheels - Although not a new concept, these are mounted independently from the suspension - the fenders coincide with steering movement, but remain rigid from the up and down travel of the control arms. By cleverly crafting the turning front end, it was able to be covered each wheel opening with full fender skirting that sits flush the bottom of the fender completely covering the 15x7" inch wheels .Although the body has been shortened by 6" and chopped by 3" the now 2 seater Cord has a remarkable of amount of space and offers plenty of driver comfort. The Hugger Orange body color gets plenty of attention riding down the street. Door panels and heated seats are leather, headliner is brown cloth. AutoMeter Ultra Light gauges replace the original dials and are mounted in a stock style fascia. The three - speed automatic shifter is floor mounted, windows are electric and interior is air conditioned (have not used, may need a charge). On the road it rides great, as it should for a 125 inch wheel base. To help retain the original flavor of the 1937 Westchester, the front pop-up head lights and the rear tail light assemblies were retained - stock appearing tail lights have been recessed into the body for a smoother, more integral look. As for the license plate bracket, it was given the same treatment as the tail lights. The exhaust exits beneath it through a large rectangular tip. The head light covers are factory Cord parts, but the early crank mechanism has been replaced with a modern electrical device. Bumpers and door handles were deleted and the massive grille ribs were painted the same color as the body.
This Cord won at Seema (Judges Favorite) and was on the cover of Hemmings Rods & Performance Magazine 8 months in a row.
