1973 Citroën

It is with much regret I am even offering up this Citroen SM for sale at the time. I need the money to fund other projects here around the shop. However, I am not desperate to sell it, and if it does not bring what I want for it, I will take it up to the next level in the coming months and either enjoy it myself, or then offer it for sale again.
Please check my feedback, I have sold several 'odd' cars here recentl, with good feedback from the buyers. I try very hard to make accurate and detailed descriptions of the vehicles I sel, and I am happy to discuss any and all questions you may hav, just please ring me up at 912.4148993

This is a 197, 3.0L Maserati V6 powered automatic Citroen SM. I bought it from what I believe to be the second owner, last year, who is a well known Citroen mechanic/ expert. He had been holding onto the car for decades, but rarely driving it, to preserve its incredibly low 19,000 original miles.
ALSO FOR SALE : 1972 Jaguar XJ6 Series 1 with only 50,000 original miles, and a 1990 Lotus Esprit Turbo SE with rebuilt engine and many new parts Check my other auctions.
This Citroen is all origina, except for a couple upgrades to engin, like, newer electronic ignition.
Triple Weber carburetors just rebuilt and dialed in. Fuel tank clean and perfect. No mechanical issues other than original exhaust system has corroded quite badly.
Starts easily, idles well, runs/ drives/ stops as it should with a lot of power.
Interior still presents as brand new ; leather perfect, dash perfect, original radio in center console, stainless trim all present and perfect. The missing windshield trim in the photos is actually here and in the trunk of the car.
All this aside, car is a bit of a project for the following reasons :
A) Original paint is faded . Best colo, though in the mint green metallic!
B) Power windows do not work from switches at this moment, but can be jumped at harness to make them go up and down.
C) Exhaust system is corroded
D) Timing chains are original, and 50 years old. While they have only 19,000 miles on them, I would worry a little bit about making the car a daily driver until they are replaced.
As another bonus, I have with the car brand-new oil cooler hoses, European tube steel headers with no EGR syste, and stainless steel header downpipes to rest of the exhaust. I can purchase the rest of the exhaust system, in stainless stee, and install for the new owner before car is shipped to you, for another $1900.
Car starts instantly, sounds healthy and drives well. Car has no leaks, including no hydraulic system leaks. Car runs well, and coolant fans cycle as they should. No overheatin, funny noises, etc. In theory you could use the car every da, right now, but I would worry about the original timing chains before doing so.
If you are interested in the car, have any questions, etc, CALL ME at 912.4148993. I am not interested in messaging back and forth. This tells me you are not seriously interested in buying the car, and I am trying to sell it here, people.
IF buyer of the car wants the timing chains done, new exhaust / any other work performed on it, we can do this here at my shop. I can also convert the car to a 5 speed manual if you prefer. We would have to talk to discuss costs for this on the phone.
I believe this car easily has the potential to be a $50K + car. 19,600 original, documented miles. I have all the original owners manuals, extra keys, warranty booklet, etc. New paint would get it most of the way there. I do not think you can find another Citroen SM with such low original miles, they are find to find for sale at all.
Let me know what else I can tell you .... looking to sell soon in order to fund my air-cooled Porsche 911 Cabriolet project.

If you want to bid, please be serious about bidding. A $1000 non-refundable deposit will be expected at the close of the auction, and the balance paid within 5 day's time, no exceptions, unless you call to discuss other options.

I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THIS AUCTION AND SELL CA, AT ANY TIME. It is posted for sale in other places, and I will always sell to the person who calls, discusses price and logistics with me, and who sends a deposit to secure the car.

I can help ship this car anywhere in the USA, I have many auto transport companies in my rolodex and auto transport is easily arranged through me, if you require help. Actual transport costs are the responsibility of the buyer, however. We can negotiate price including transport if you call me.

Thank you for reading all of this, and let me know what else I can tell you by ringing me up at 912.4148993. This is a very rare opportunity to buy an amazing vintage/ collectible barn find car with unusually low miles, that runs and drives now.
