1972 Citroen G90

1972 Citroen D Special VIN 00FC1790, 2 liter engine, 4 speed mechanical shift gearchange.
Welcome to my listing for the LeMon Goddess. This is your chance to buy a largely fettled rolling restoration at a fair price. Don't dawdle. We only have one of these and none in the pipeline today.
The car is a 1972 Citroen D Special, USA Export spec. Mileage is unknown. Probably under 200,000 based on driving characteristics. I helped a previous, previous owner buy the car years and years ago now.I bought the car sight unseen for my junkyard operation last year based on a description offered to me over the phone. It was running but had a clutch problem. It was delivered to the yard and we threw it into the bone pile.Several months later, a prolific Peugeot aficianado and veteran LeMons participant spotted it and oh boy. Here we are today. The car was pulled from the bone pile, pressure washed inside and out and brought into the shop. Following a compression test (cold 115,115,110,140) the decision to proceed was made and the following things were done based on the following criteria: You are only allowed to use what you find in the junkyard or behind the shop door. You cannot call and run up a parts bill on the car. So a lot of stuff happened.

Midnight, Sunday, before car week, the car left the shop after a 30 mile shakedown tour. I didn't see it for 14 days. But I heard about it. I went to Monterrey car week. Everybody was talking about this car.
The car returned to home base (Yucaipa, California 92399 USA) having covered 3,995 miles and carrying the 2nd place LeMons trophy after scoring every available rally point after initial inspection and check in. The trophy will be sold with the car.
At this point, the car was serviced with clean motor oil, a used starter was installed, the chassis was greased and it got a new axle boot. We also replaced the broken windshield with a good used one. A used turn signal switch was installed. The car has been driven 1000 more miles since that service. The car averages 23 mpg. The pictures were taken today.
Needs list:
Rod out/recore used radiator? It runs on the hot side but doesn't overheat and puke fluid. At least the gauge says it does.
Hydraulic pump leaks but is not gushing.
Front suspension height should be looked at. The adjustment lever is wonky and the linkage may be damaged. Replacement linkage parts will be included with sale.
Paint and interior? Needs everything unless you want to keep the moss that was growing on the roof when I bought the car and the custom duct tape and blanket upholstery that is currently in place.
Trunk rust? It's your call. It has been repaired. Myself? I would ignore it unless doing a full restoration.
Door pin switches for interior lights need attention.
Keys don't match door and trunk cylinders. Some work. Some do not.

To answer some questions:
Can I drive the car home?Yes. Unless you choose to take an underwater route.
Is the car registered and insured?Yes. Clear California title is between DMV and someone's mailbox today.
Is the fuel tank clean?Yes. But the fuel gauge does not work.
Is it running LHM?Sort of. Someone added Dexron during her time on the road. Not a problem. But should have a fluid flush at next service.
Can you address the future and current needs of the car before I take possession?Maybe. We are busy and we have some significant life challenges within the confines of our day to day operation.
How bad are the dents? Please look at the pictures. Additional pictures can be provided for seriously interested parties.
Does it have a jack, crank rod and spare tire?Yes.
Do the windshield wipers work?Yes. The blades are new.
Does the horn work?Yes. So do the blinkers.
Does the clock work?Yes.
Can you crank start the engine?Yes.
Does the engine use oil?Yes. Consumption varies based on how hard you push it. I'm told about 1 quart in 1000 miles.
Does the heater work?Yes. Including the blower fan and vent controls.
Does it have keys?Yes. Door locks need attention.
Do you have the hubcaps? No. They were lost on the side of the road somewhere in Oregon or Washington. I may be able to find a set for extra cost.
Are parts and service available?Yes. Parts widely and completely. Service? Not so much unless you know where to look.
What is RSD?Google is your friend. RSD is painful and life changing. Having it sucks. The sticker was added to the car to further public awareness as the disease and research for it get no attention.
What is the reserve price? The same as I could get for it in pieces if we throw it back into the junk yard.
Are you going to throw it back into the junkyard?Don't test me.
Should it be thrown back into the junkyard.Never.
Is it a southern car?No. It is an Oregon car.
Is that duct tape?Yes. Duct tape was used where necessary. Orange is the awareness color of RSD.
Will you sell me junkyard parts?Only if you or your agent walks through my gate. California residents must pay sales tax.
More questions?Call Charles. 951 288 1958 Leave a message and he will get back to you ASAP.
