1972 Citroen SM Rebuilt motor, tranny and spheres and in Excellent Condition
1972 Citroën
1972 Citroen SM - Sport Maserati 6 cylinder 4 cam engine and automatic transmission.Very low productionmodeland only made for 4 years. These were only imported into the USA 2 of those years, 72 and 73. Only around 2000 total imported, which makes these SM's rare and hard to find. Especially in this condition. I am attaching a link so interested or even curious lookers can grab a little history on this car.

I bought this carrecently from the family of a gentleman who recently passed. He has owned this Citroen SM for 20 years and had two of them,so he obviously loved them. This car is/was still registered and driven on a regular basis with its scheduled professional maintenance always done.
This car runs and drives great and everything works as it should. The car is absolutely rust free and the body is straight as a arrow. One re paint in 2006, paint still looks great but does have a few very minor flaws, it's notshow paint. It has, I believe, a hydraulic suspension and return to center steering set up so it took a bit to get use to driving it, but I quickly adapted and it really is a fun car. It has 4 way disc brakes, (new) so it stops on a dime, ice cold air (unit recently rebuilt), power windows (a little slow), tilt and telescoping wheel, basically all the goodies. Itwas considered a sport, luxury car back in the day and boy is she pretty.
The motor had a major overhaul, top to bottom, done by Dave Burnhan in New York when it had 72K miles on it, now has 89K. The transmission was rebuilt Feb. 2015 so it's fresh, all of the suspension spheres were rebuilt in 2009,it had one repaint in its original color in 2006, new Pirelli tires, new water pump and starter in 2013 and recent new stainless exhaust, a/c unit rebuilt and is new.The under side of the car and trunk are very clean (no rust at all), parked for a week and not a drop of anything under the car. I have three binders full of receipts and information about this car going back to the early 80's. Very informative and interesting. I see Dave Burnhan on many receipts and SM World in California on many parts, so the previous owner took care of this car and used the best people and parts available. He evenfiled everything nicelyin plastic sleeves in these binders.
The only few negative things that I have noticed are, the pass seat was recovered with the original leather, but not the drivers seat. Driverspower window is a bit slow but does work, no antenna or radio, driver’s seat is original and has a few tears but it’s a nice leather interior overall. That's about it. Runs and drives great and all systems function asthey should. Get in and go. In the pics the paint looks like it is different shades, it is not, just the way the sun hit it.
Here is a chance to own something different. I’ve done some homework and there is quite a following for these and the prices are all over the place, so I’m going to list it with a verylow Buy it Now for what this car is.
I am attaching a link to a video so you can hear it running and get a good feel for it.
