1958 Chrysler Windsor 2-Door Hardtop Solid California Car
I recently purchased this 1958 Chrysler Windsor from a local gentleman who brought the car back from California in hopes of restoring it back to it's former glory, unfortunately for him that never happened.
This Windsor has been off the road for decades and stored inside his garage since it was brought back from out west. We pulled it out of hiding and cleaned it up a bit to see it's condition, what might be missing and to photograph it for this ad.
This Chrysler originally had a nice color combination of a Satin Grey Body with a Red & Silver Interior. The body is complete with all of it's sheet metal, trim & glass. It is fairly clean and straight and nearly rust free and not wrecked or missing parts. The lower front fenders & doors, rocker panels, lower rear 1/4 panels & trunk floor are all rust free. The only rust through in this car is on front floor pan on both sides underneath the front seat. The only body damage is on the passenger side lower rear 1/4 panel before the wheel house, a scrape in the passenger side outer tail fin & a dent on the top of the Passengers front fender.
The hood, trunk & doors open, close & latch correctly. The clear window glass is original and in good condition, However the rear window was broken and replaced with a nice original that is temporarily laying in the body.
The dashboard, gauges, steering wheel & radio are all in good original condition. The front doors still retain their original door panels & armrests for patterns. The front bench seat is an original having a good frame that slides back & forth on it's tracks but has been stripped of all of it's upholstery. I did not receive nor do I have the rear seat cushions.
The frame is clean and straight having no rust thru or scale and appears to have never been wrecked, repaired or welded.
Under the hood rests a complete original numbers matching 354 V-8 Engine connected to a 3-Speed Torque Flite Automatic Transmission, the air cleaner is the only thing missing. The engine spins free and is not locked up but I did not even try to get it running. The car has factory optional power steering & power brakes. It currently rolls & steers but does not run or have brakes.
This Chrysler 2-Door Hardtop is a great restoration project or will make a good start for a Rat Rod, Resto Mod or Custom Car.
