1980 Chrysler New Yorker
Up for auction is this very nice 1980 Chrysler New Yorker 5th. Avenue Edition. This car is loaded. Leather Seats, Original Accessory Carpet Floor Mats, Power Windows, Power Seat, Original AM/FM 8 Track Stereo, Power Antenna, Cruise Control, A/C, 360 V8, 2 Barrel Carburetor, Stainless Steel Muffler & Original Literature along with Brochure. The A/C blows air but it needs charged. Can't tell if the compressor comes on until it is charged. The car was Rust-proofed by Rusty Jones. I'm the second owner. I purchased from neighbor who's father owned this. He passed away like 7 years ago and the car has been sitting ever since. Maybe taken out once in a while. It had always been stored in garage under the barn. He was very clean with the car. Never smoked in and never any pets inside. The interior is very nice. One crack in the rear seat on driver's side (not bad). The 8 track plays a little slowly but it does play. Could use a cleaning or lubrication to make the 8 track play better. It may be that the tape that I'm trying is bad too.
The chrome is bright. The paint looks nice although the car was "keyed" on the passenger quarter panel and the previous owner touched it up with a thin brush. I can't understand why someone would key an elderly man's New Yorker.
The engine has a little hesitation at low idle. I've put some Seafoam in there and fresh gasoline to try and help this out. It's still on that tank of gas. The carburetor might need a good cleaning. Other than that, it drives like a dream. I had it safety checked and everything was good. It should pass any state inspection. All the lights work. Brakes still have good life on them. I've been driving it around a little here and there. I've taken it to a car show. It gets lots of looks. A lot of people tell me how nice they think the car is.
