1965 Chrysler Newport Sedan Red RWD Automatic
1965 Chrysler Newport
Vehicle DetailsStarted it's long life in California but moved to Arizona shortly thereafter (early 70s). Good, solid, straight, classic cruiser with loads of power and a good-as-new transmission. All chrome is great and still there. Paint is faded with some nice patina coming through. Running, driving car that I was prepping for various projects but kids, job loss, and ultimately other projects got in my way. This has been a joyride/cruiser that stands out from the crowd - mid 60s Mopar is simply not seen as often in the collector car world.
The good:
Professionally rebuilt transmission (full rebuild) in 2021 ---- $1500+
Champion aluminum radiator (installed) with matching aluminum electric fan kit (uninstalled) ---- $1200+
Holley 570 Street Avenger 4-barrel carburetor (factory 2-barrel), recently tuned with brand new throttle kick down assembly ---- $700+
All four drums rebuilt in 2017, suspension repairs completed (not a full rebuild), along with undercarriage detailing, full gas tank drop/cleaning, and a myriad of small repairs/full tune up ---- $2000+
Extra parts galore - listed below.
The bad:
Instrument cluster fully intact, but not working currently.
Front seat in rough shape, back seat is mostly great.
Half of the headliner is cut out and cleaned up - was prepping for replacement.
Carpet in front is rough (see below), but back is great.
Front dash cracked up like an Arizona car that's been in the sun too long
No side mirror on drive side, my kids broke that off...oops. Replacements easy to find online.
Car actually has an aftermarket AC system, but has not been charged in many years. Blower motor under the dash still fires up, unsure how the complete system would function with a re-charge.
The ugly:
Rust in the front seat floor pans, needs to be cut out and replaced (pictured, from the AC)
Carpet on front, driver side is damaged.
Shoddy paint work done decades ago (I have no history for that) but there's a spot on the right-side, rear passenger door that paint is flaking off and showing some primer.
Extra Parts List:
Black full carpet kit
Replacement headliner
Replacement dash (original from doner car, non-matching color but can be painted)
New pedals/linkage to match new throttle kick down assembly.
Champion chrome dual electric fan to pair with aluminum radiator
Original hub caps (removed them a long time ago but I have them)
