1937 Chrysler Imperial Airflow

1937 CHRYSLER AIRFLOW COUPE

The Chrysler Airflow cars were produced starting in 1934 and ending in 1937. In 1934 thru 1936 two models were produced. The cheaper Chrysler Airflow Eight and the more expensive Chrysler Imperial Airflow Eight. Most of the cars were four door sedans. The Imperial Airflow Eights being produced in lesser numbers than the Chrysler Airflow Eight. Each year approximately 200 Chrysler Airflow Imperial Eight coupes were produced. Less than 25 of the Imperial coupes exist for the years 1934-1936. In 1937 the name Imperial was dropped and they were just called Chrysler Airflow, model C-17. In fact, they were Imperials. Again, they produced approximately 200 coupes and less than 10 exist today. This car is one of the few that remain today.

All Chrysler Airflow Imperials, including the 1937 model, are listed in the CCCA register. This car would be welcome at any CCCA met.

This car is road worthy and a good driver. The paint is driver quality but a new owner may choose to repaint. The upholstery is in good condition. Not sure how many owners this car has had, but it has spent a majority of time in California. The cars mileage shows 76,129 which is believed to be actual but true mileage is unknown.

There is no rust in the body or frame, so no metal repairs will be needed.

The body tag does not designate the paint color but Parrot Blue is the color.

The engine compartment and underneath the car are very clean, but not detailed.

This is a complete car with no missing parts. All items on the car operate as they should.

If you have never driven an Imperial Airflow eight-cylinder car, with 125HP, you will be amazed. With the factory automatic overdrive, the car is easily capable of modern traffic speeds, exceeding 70+ mph all day long. It literally “floats” down the road. It also stops like a more modern car, with factory power brakes. This car is also equipped with a factory heater which includes dash mounted defroster. All of these items are far ahead of their time for an early 1930’s car.

All Chrysler Airflows have a split windshield, with both sides cranking out independently for maximum airflow, combined with the rear roll down windows and “wing” windows.

The price on this car is set low because the new owner may want to do more work, if he so chooses. Nothing is needed to be done to drive and enjoy this car.

Keep in mind this car is a full CCCA classic and very rare.
