1927 Chrysler Other
1927 Chrysler model 60 right hand drive originally from Uruguay. Speedo does not work, nsure of any mileage. This is a very rare sweet awesome rad piece of rolling americana (south americana). I suppose it needs attention everywhere, r just putt around like I do. I bought it from aguy who imported it in the 1970's. There are a few dings and imperfections on the body, he worse being the left front fender side, ee pics. Some surface rust and a little rust in the rear wheel wells. I just wanted a neat old jalopy and that is as far as I took this as far as fixing up. I had the master cylinder sent out, leeved and rebuilt, ll new rubber lines front and back. However the wheel cylinders will need attention next. The Master is from some other car, 50's) and had too much residual pressure for the front external contracting brake bands, olding the drums after pumping. I lightened the spring in the master a bit and that seemed to work. The rear brakes someone converted to internal with shoes, owpushing the inside of the original drum. The rear brake backing plates where modified to accept the newer style brake cylinders. I only bledthose by loosening the rubber hose in the back, s the bleeders broke on each side when I tried to crack them. The bleeders therefore are still in and sealed but cannot bleed more at this time. If you really want to tour you will need to address the brake system. Currently the pedal is spongy but stops the car for putting around 20-30mph or so, hough anticipating stops is good in any antique car. The e-brake on the driveshaft works great but does not stay veryafoot when set. For an emergency stop though works well. I removed the original stromberg as it was prettyhokey after years of repairs and brazing and was just messed up. I will include with the sale though. I put on a redone Model A style Zenith 2 in its place, odifying the pedal linkage and running the high speed jet rod under the steering. Works well. Runs smooth. New plugs, ew plug wires, ap, otor, oints, attery leads, tarter solenoid, hanged all fluids, ew tubes and flaps in wheels,(older tires) new battery, rake light switch installed, nd more. Fixed vacuum canister by making and welding on a new bottom and running new lines. Gas gauge is on top of tank in back and cleaned andworks. Proper radiator cap located but has broken wing tip, hough goes great with look of car!! Brake light works, headlights currently do not), mpgauge works, il pressure guage shows pressure but is not accurate, nly shows a few pounds, put agauge on motor though to check and pressure is actually good!), peedo cable is broken and speedometer is stiff or frozen.Ignition switch was replaced with a keyed on off switch. Spare tire rim on back does not have the 6 tabs, nly 4, o it will not bolt to rim centers, t is just for looks. One other rim wasobviously made by welding new tabs on, nd not perfect but works. I have three of four hub caps, have others caps of varying thread diameters, ut are in rough shape and will need work. I have the canvas side curtains, the canvas is bad but the frames are good, one simple bar from one is missing but can be easily made). As for the top, have what was left of one, ome bracing and wood, ot in good shape, ee pics. I wrapped rear seat frames with jute and mexicanblanket, one well and hog ringed, ot just thrown over.Front seat is older messed upvinyl redo. Again matches car brilliantly! Glass seems original (slightly wavy, ld style) and is good. Differential leaks. Right rear axle leaks a little grease into brake area. The axle itself is not the best shape. After removing it Inoted it has been welded once in the center long ago though seems surprisingly straight, nd the keyway is messed up, hould be welded and machined new and square, hough it currently holds. I had to turn down the diameter of a stripped end too to fit the next size nut as it was stripped. I replaced a few wheel bearings too. Wood on all wheels seems very solid. Floors are very good. Right headlamp is cracked. One luggage trim rung is busted in the middle on rear. 1927 CA plates, urrently registered and insured. If you are out of state, would like to retain the plates. I will discount $150 from price. I drive to get coffee every day in this thing down the street from my shop. Gets more looks than anything I have ever driven. Lots of fun. 3 speed and shifts fine (double clutching).Motor and trans leak, rans especially, ut I just top it off now and then. Kingpins are shot. any real speed in 3rd and you get speed wobbles, ut Idon't every drive that fast (though thats not fast haha...) Two hoodlatches are busted and or missing. And I have the hood, ust looks cooler off. Hood has a little damage front of hinge, ee pics. I am pretty sure every door handle is different. Awesome. Has a lock out shifter which would be even cooler if I had the key... Idon't. I have an originalowners manual for it showing maintenance and mechanicals, ots of info. I greased all the zerks and oil points. The rear shackle nuts should be castle nuts with cotter pins, o keep on eye on them,as they were a little loose when I bought and cannot be overtightened, o now they are sorta tight...sooooo, heck them now and then. Reardiff has some play. All wood in body is fairly decent. No realrotten stuff that I have found, hough some joints in doors are a little loose. The cylinder head looks to have been repaired in a few spots, ee pics. A little coolant leaks from the bolt right near the water outlet, hich is also the spot of a repair, o maybe leaking from the bolt, aybe the repair. Does not leak much, eeping out when motor is warm. Not enough to drip down and make it to the floor or anything. Oh, nd sometimes when you let clutch out slow it makes a higher pitched rubbing sound for a moment, ometimes it does not. Not while driving, ust sometimes if you ride the clutch to back up or take off. However after driving and you restart it does not sometimes. Not any real pattern yet. Have not felt any shaking or other weird mechanical sounds. Does not slip in gear. Smokes a little. Unsure of compression or how fresh motor could be. I have only driven on flat areas, hort trips.Video of it starting running, lick HERE
