1968 Chrysler Newport Convertible

You are viewing a pretty sharp 1968 Chrysler Newport convertible, double blue with a white top. This Chrysler underwent a cosmetic restoration a couple of decades ago and it still looks great and drives very nicely. I have receipts going back to and including the restoration. The VIN decodes as follows:
C = ChryslerE = Economy27 = ConvertibleG = 383 cubic inch V8, two barrel carburetor8 = 1968C = Jefferson, MI assembly plant
And the fender tag adds that it is equipped with a three speed automatic transmission, is painted light blue metallic and had a scheduled build date of May 13. If you're wondering if that was an unlucky Friday, it wasn't. It was actually a Monday, when guys came back to work refreshed and re-energized, looking forward to building great cars and maybe even a little relieved to leave the stresses of marriage and family life back at home. This Newport still carries the spirit of a good build in the way loves cruising along effortlessly under sunny skies.
This Chrysler has never given me a lick of trouble, in fact as I sit here writing this description, thinking back to having it out on the open road, not a single issue comes to mind. The power convertible top operates with more speed and confidence than any I've ever witnessed. Its so good I actually timed it to see how it competes with a modern car. Honestly, I've forgotten the result but the fact I was inspired to run such a test on the convertible top of a fifty year old car says it all. The top appears to be vinyl and has a real glass rear window. I'm sure there were cheaper ones available during the restoration, but it looks like attention to quality was part of the process. When I took the photos for this listing it was about 30 degrees F so dropping the top wasn't in the cards.
I've included two video walkarounds. I suggest watching the videos in the order they are arranged here. I filmed them in that order and the second one references the first.

This Newport still has the original Certicard, Owner's Manual and warranty booklet. I've been a Moparist for 29 years -- beginning with a '69 Charger that I purchased from the metal shop teacher and still own today -- and they are by far my favorite classic cars to find, fix, drive and enjoy. This particular Newport has been all that and more. I hope you like it.
