1964 Chrysler New Yorker Salon 4dr HT 413 4v loaded AZ CAR cruise tilt barn find
1964 Chrysler New Yorker Salon
1964 Chrysler New Yorker SalonUP FOR AUCTION: Id consider this car an Az barn find. Its been sitting dormant in the Az
desert for about 10 yrs now. Mostly under a canopy, ot really a barn. The last owners
quit driving it for some reason many yrs ago and parked it. This is what we know about it.
We brought it home and put some roller tires on it, long with what looks like the original
bias ply spare so we could move it around easier. We pulled the fuel line off that goes to
the gas tank an ran it to a small container of fresh gas under the hood. Dropped in a battery
and poured a little gas down the carb and cranked it over. After a few cranks the car fired
up and it sat there and idled. The longer it ran the smoother the motor sounded. We shut
the car off, opped off the water in the radiator and ps pump. I cranked it over again and
it fired up again. I then pushed the button for 1st gear and the car was moving. I drove it
around our parking lot a few times since. The brakes pedel is stuck and not working so Ive
been stopping it with the E brake for now, ut thats barely enough to stop the car. I ordered
a new brake master and hope to get it on by Thur or Fri this week. The motor doesnt have all
the power its suppose to, ut its probably a combination of needing at least a good carb rebuild
ALONG with at least a good tune up next. Im hoping to get it to run a little better before it
ships out of here. GOOD NEWS is the motor shows little to no blow-by and has no weird knocks.
Transmission so far feels good too. Ive used all forward gears and reverse too.
The rims on the car are mixed both 14" and 15" factory steel Mopar wheels. Im sure it should
have 14s stock. Chances are, ew owners will be putting on something more modern and larger
during its restoration.
HOW FAR YOU WANT TO RESTORE THE CAR IS UP TO THE BUYER.
THE GOLD / GOLD SALON EDITION is a VERY RARE MODEL AND OPTION KEEP IN MIND.
OUR 100% feedback speaks for itself
and many of our feedback are from about 15 cars we sold just this past
year here on EBay. We put more time and effort into our ads making it much
easier for the potential buyers to bid with confidence.
Our auctions clearly show the most detail of what to expect
Over any other auctions Ive seen online. Buy with confidence !!
The 1 negative feedback we recently got for a UN RESTORED project Bus we sold
is being disputed, s if you look at our ads, e leave nothing unturned. So not sure why
we got negative, ecause the ad for our bus was very descriptive just like this one.
MOVING ON >>>> : )
Arizona cars are time capsules half the time and the best kind to restore.
We not only market our cars with some of the best pics on the web, ut we also
We do all we can to make the process smooth and simple for everyone involved.
We dont come across these too often anymore, o bid to win !
DRIVETRAIN: best we can tell its the original big block 413 V8 w 4V carter carb
matted to the factory 727 auto transmission which is worked from the dash thru the
factory Pushbuttons. Pretty cool to use when you are driving it. It really gives you the
feel like you are a fighter pilot taking off for combat ! I can see MOPARs reason for
this set up and it really works, nd gives the results it was designed for. Nothings been
touched on this car for yrs so its going to need the gas tank cleaned out, uel system
flushed, carb rebuild for sure in the near future, s also a full tune up if not more.
Rearend seems fine and hope to have the brakes functional by the weekend.
TIRES ARE ALL PRETTY MUCH JUNK, XCEPT THE BIAS PLY SPARE IS IN PRETTY NICE SHAPE.
1 of the original wheel covers is missing.
INTERIOR: the original cloth / leather Gold interior is pretty sun and weather
beat from over the yrs in the Az sun and heat. Luckily pretty much all you need to
restore these cars is available. From the cool clear steering wheel to the carpet.
Factory TILT wheel is pretty cool and 3 out of 4 of the power windows are working.
All the glass seems good and the original radio does come with the car loose in the
trunk. I dont see much if anything missing making the resto a bit easier. Most of the
stainless and chrome trim is in really nice shape, ome of the chrome around the
inside headliner did get some pitting. Look at the pics closely please, hey usually
Look better in pics, ut figure its going to need alot to make it restored
INSIDE the trunk some minor rust on the pan, ut wouldnt say it needs to be replaced.
Most people would just put a new trunk mat over it and or POR 15 it / paint it and
trunk mat it. Original spare is there and I think the jack and handle are original too.
SEE PICS.
EXTERIOR: so the cars original Paint color was Embassy Gold Metallic only
available on the SALON Models, ut back in the 70s it was painted RED and in the
pics you can see whats left of that. The only place I see any previous damage is
the LR quarter panel and its not that large of an area. I saw no signs of any rust
thru holes or repairs ever and the rest of the body is actually extremely straight.
See pics . The trim and stainless are in decent shape, ut the bumpers are looking
pretty dull. Think I saw 1 pcs on the LR small pcs missing. The vinly roof was removed
many yrs ago, o no rust there. What you see left is old white paint from the 70s.
All the headlights and taillights work well too.
SUSPENSION: basically all stock with some decent shocks on the rear. Torsion
bar front end makes for easily lowering it ! It may need bushings and misc repairs
there, eally wont know until you do closer inspection or start driving it more.
As for now while driving it around the parking lot, dont hear any giant clunks or
sounds coming from the suspension and it feels pretty good.

IF the car sells, e will have to figure out how to ship the
motor for the car. IF you cant pick it up yourself we can pallet
the motor and ship it via truck frt too at the winners expense.
Unless we can find a way for the trucking company to take
it with them when they pick up the car. (its a possibility, es)
Im sure it will cost a little more either way to ship the drivetrain.
