1958 Imperial Convertible
1958 Chrysler Imperial Converible 2-door
Purchased in November 1991, this 1958 Imperial Convertible was my wife’s car until 2009 when she was diagnosed with macular degeneration and lost her driving license.Unwilling to part with “her car,” it was placed in inside storage with a total of 83,045 miles on the odometer where it has remained.
Now, however, it is time to find this 1958 Imperial a new home. This is not just an automobile. It is an iconic example of combined art and function by the designer and builder
that leaves nothing more to be desired.
A new battery has returned the 392 Hemi engine to life along with 6 quarts of fresh oil and filter. Four new tires assure safe highway driving. The push buttons for both engine starting and transmission shifting function as intended. It has power steering and power brakes.Standard amenities include power windows, power seat, radio and even power antenna.
Sadly, the fabric on the sound and original convertible top is worn and should be replaced.
Overall, this 1958 Imperial Convertible is a fine automobile, of which only 675 were produced and which will never again be seen in America.
CHOICES!In 1958, the Imperial Convertible was available with either of two trunk lids. One was the popular continental style with a simulated spare tire. The other, more formal,
has a single tapering chrome molding leading to a four inch Imperial Coat of Arms.Eight one and one half letters proclaim “Imperial”.Both lids are included.
Sorry, Navy jet not included.
