Texas Classic Cars Of Dallas is proud to showcase this one owner 1971 K/5 Blazer. We areextremelyproud of the history of it's owner. The Blazer was purchased new by one of our great American war heroes. He was one of the few survivors of the USS Indianapolis. Those of you who know your history will know what an incredible feet that was to be one of those few brave men. Those of you who haven't heard the story, ust google it and you will be amazed at the entire story of theIndianapolis. There was even a great scene in the movie Jaws, here Quint talks of being one of those survivors. The owner passed this year and the Blazer now belongs to a family member but has not been used, o it is technically a one owner vehicle.
This 1971 Blazer in light yellow is a GREAT sounding and GREAT driving K5.Very solid and Straight body, his is an original truck that has not been restoredextensively. It has its original CST bucket seats and original back seat. It has no rust, t has been sprayed with it's factory "Light Yellow" color and is average quality. It has a few new parts including interior carpe, painted dash, love box, as tank, iscellaneous interior trim parts.Mechanically it runs strong and drives great, his is your stock V8 it has a great rumble to it and the transmission shifts with ease. The tires are near new with lockers on the wheels. The original lift gives it a great look.It has the original seats and door panel, cassetteplayer, oll bar so is a great ride. It is fun to drive and turns heads going down the road. This Blazer goes down the road straight and smooth. Everything works including lights, ipers and gauges.Air Conditioning, M/FM stereo w/Cassetteplayer, enter console storage are, 4-wheel drive, Cyl, utomatic Transmission, inted Glass, ilt Steering, inyl Seat, Power Steering, ower Brake, 15" Factory rims and Thick 30 x 10.5 R15LT Tires, ow Hitch, ull Size Spare Tire.Clean '70-'72 Chevy Blazers and C-10 trucks are sky-rocketing in value over the last few years.
The original K5 was a short wheelbase truck. It was available in 1969 as 4-wheel drive only; in 1970, two-wheel-drive model was offered. There were four choices for power plants: the 250 in straight-6, he 292 straight-6, he 307 V8, nd the 350 V8.The Blazer was designed and marketed to compete with International Harvester Scout and the Ford Bronco. Both of these were originally aimed at the short Jeep CJ series, hich were much smaller than other trucks. The great innovation of the Blazer was to simply offer a shortened pickup truck, hich both increased interior space, and lowered the cost of production with a shared platform. The Blazer quickly became popular. For the first time, t married the off-road capabilities of the Scout with the "luxury" features like air conditioning andautomatic transmissions routinely available on pickup trucks. By 1970, he Blazer was already outselling both of its older rivals.Ford, odge, nd even Jeep would counter with similar shortened pickups, ith the Dodge Ramcharger and Jeep Cherokee. It also came as a convertible. The two-wheel drive version came with independent front suspension and rear trailing arms, oth with coil springs. The four-wheel drive version had a solid front axle and used leaf springs front and rear. Both versions used drum brakes at all four corners until 1971,when the entire GM light truck line got standard front discs. A tachometer was optional. There was also a choice between a three-speed automatic transmission Turbo Hydromatic (TH350), three-speed manual transmission, and a four-speed Synchromesh (SM465) manual transmission. Two transfer cases were offered: the Dana 20, vailable only with the manual transmissions,or the NP-205, vailable with both types of transmissions. The Blazer had 8 inches (200 mm) of ground clearance and an approach angle of 35°.
