Award Winning Frame Off Built Camaro SS 502 CI 700 HP TKO600 5 Speed Currie 4.11
1969 Chevrolet Camaro RS/SS
Here at RK Motors Charlotte we pride ourselves on selling some of the finest muscle cars in the world; but every time we think we've seen it all a car like this killer '69 Camaro Rally Sport comes through the doors and seriously humbles us. The product of a multi-year frame-off build this Chevy is an absolutely stunning tour de force which tucks a 502 cubic inch crate motor and a completely show-detailed undercarriage into a timeless pony car body that's been tweaked with some of the best components on the market. Professionally built to turn heads and win trophies all the while capturing the classic style of the fabled first generation F-body it's the kind of car that'll make you the star of the show wherever you go. If you're looking for some ultimate take-no-prisoners muscle that's polished enough for the turn table and reliable enough for the open road have a look at this world class Camaro!
Completing a three year transformation from solid Detroit steel into a lean mean Chevrolet dream machine this spectacular F1 Camaro displays bodywork that's nothing short of immaculate! The car's ground up nut and bolt restoration started with a new frame and an original '69 Camaro body that by the looks of things had never seen any major rust or any significant damage. Once those components were married together every one of that body's panels was aligned to better than factory fit between seams that were made narrow and precise. And when those professionally fitted panels were as close to perfect as possible a custom mix of 3-stage Sherwin-Williams red was sealed under a mirror-like clearcoat that thanks to thorough sanding and tedious buffing perfectly highlights the car's classic American lines. The end result is one seriously lethal showpiece that has major presence and unbelievable curb appeal!
When it comes to purity of form I can't think of a better design than the '69 Camaro Rally Sport. And this awesome red resto-mod features a host of aggressive upgrades which feel so natural they could've rolled out of GM's Norwood manufacturing facility over 43 years ago. At the front of the car's body a black stainless-trimmed grille hangs fresh Rally Sport headlights above modern halogen parking lamps and a smoothed tucked and painted bumper. Above that grille a traditional ZL2 cowl induction hood flows toward a smoothed cowl panel which anchors pristine greenhouse glass inside shaved drip rails and new stainless frames. Below that hood shaved marker lights combine with shaved mirrors shaved door handles and widened rear wheel openings to highlight the car's solid sculpted profile. And at the back of those marker lights a custom rear decklid rides between custom rear fender extensions a custom rear valence flush-fitting tail lights and a second smoothed tucked and painted bumper. While the description of this F1's massaged body may sound deceptively simple its appearance is every bit as alluring as it is clean!
That said if you think the exterior of this buff pavement pounder is impressive you're going to LOVE what's under its hood. Pop the car's traditional latch and you'll find 502 cubic inches of GM Performance Parts V8 that produces roughly 700 horsepower and makes the kind of killer noise that elicits an immediate 'deer in the headlights' look from anything with ear drums. At the top of that decked block oxygen flows through a custom body-matched air cleaner into a coated Edelbrock 4-barrel carburetor which is fed by new stainless fuel lines and operated by a sleeved throttle cable. The resulting high octane air/fuel mixture makes its way from a polished aluminum intake to shaved and polished heads that are topped with a slick pair of custom valve covers. Once that air/fuel mixture hits the cylinders a Mallory Unilite distributor sends fire to hidden Taylor plug wires which spark in perfect time with a custom camshaft. And when that air/fuel mixture is compressed spent gases exit through custom ceramic coated long tube headers which perfectly complement the block's flawless red paint. Cooling for the big engine is provided by a giant body-matched radiator that's equipped with both a large electric puller fan and a small polished cap. Charging comes courtesy of a polished alternator which along with a polished AC compressor and a polished water pump is spun by an aesthetically pleasing Billet Specialties Tru Trac serpentine system. And the car's engine compartment is exceptionally clean featuring a smoothed red firewall behind smoothed red fenders and details such as billet hood hinges a polished breather a polished thermostat housing and a liquid filled Mooneyes temperature gauge which add icing to the big block cake.
At the bottom of this brutal bowtie a slick shifting Tremec TKO600 5-speed manual transmission spins a Currie nine inch Posi-traction rear end that hangs stout 4.11 gears inside a completely polished case. Holding that top-notch drivetrain off the ground is a tubular Total Cost Involved front subframe which rides on chrome-plated control arms chrome-plated spindles and adjustable coil over shocks and a Detroit Speed Engineering QUADRAlink four bar rear suspension which makes good use of a high quality Panhard bar mini tubs and two more adjustable coil over shocks. Braking is provided by a four wheel Wilwood system which applies pressure to giant drilled and slotted rotors via braided lines polished six piston front calipers and polished four piston rear calipers. Turns come courtesy of manual rack and pinion steering which mixes traditional wheel feel with classic car style. And exhaust duties are handled by slick HPC pipes which funnel spent gases through an H-pipe crossover and great sounding Flowmaster dual chamber mufflers. The car's smoothed floorpans are clean and freshly restored to match its show quality undercarriage. Putting all the 502's power to the ground is a spectacular set of custom Boyd Coddington Spires which spin 235/40ZR18 BF Goodrich G-Force T/As in front of 295/45ZR20 BF Goodrich G-Force T/As. And all the right ancillary items like heavy duty subframe connectors a custom fuel tank and a high torque mini starter provide a detailed and show-ready appearance.
Open this Camaro's shaved doors and you'll find a supple Cinnamon interior that's built around firm bucket seats and a nice blend of modern style and modern convenience. At the front of the car a custom two-tone dash hangs a slick set of Stewart Warner Maximum Performance gauges between polished trim billet vents and chrome foot pedals. Below that dash a full length center console which features a swath of bright aluminum trim props a modern short throw shifter between a polished Vintage Air control panel a hidden MP3 cable a remote controlled Clarion sound system and hidden switches for the car's four power windows. Below that console high quality Berber-like carpet rides between custom sill plates and smoothed door jambs. At the sides of that carpet custom leather panels wear mesh speaker grilles below sculpted armrests and exceptionally fabricated door handle coves. Above those side panels a custom suede headliner anchors a billet rearview mirror between shaved sun visors. In front of the driver a great looking Billet Specialties half-wrap steering wheel spins around a modern tilt steering column. And behind the passengers a custom mesh package tray holds great sounding speakers in front of a fully finished trunk and a small amount of storage space.
Even though this 'restoration fresh' custom has only been on the show circuit for mere months it's already managed to rack up some prestigious accolades:
