First off, am listing this car for my father. If you have any questions, eel free to email them to me and I will either forward the questions to him, r put him in direct contact with you
This is a 1948 Chevrolet Fleetmaster Convertible with 86,293 original miles. It has never been restored or had any major work done, ith the exception of the black paint job 40+ years ago. It is all stock except for the aftermarket McGurk Engineering aluminum valve cover (very rare) and the blue dot tail lights. The engine and transmission are the factory 216 cu in straight 6 with 3 speed manual transmission on the column. The electrical system is still original 6v and has a new battery. The car starts, uns, rives, tops, nd is driven around town periodically. My father has owned this car for approximately 32 years. It is currently registered as an antique vehicle in CT, nd possesses a clean CT title from the 1960's from the last registered owner.
Visually, he car is pretty presentable. The body is in better condition than most of these old fleetmasters, owever it does have some issues. Please look closely at the pictures. The paint is an old respray. I tried to note any major flaws such as rust/bubbling on the fenders, arious dings/dents/scratches, elt line rust, itting/tarnished chrome, tc. There are some pinholes starting under the belt line trim. The passenger front floor pan was patched 30+ years ago. The driver's side floor pan as well as the trunk are solid. The car comes with some extra misc. chrome trim.
The interior and top are original and show their age. The seat material is fragile (as most of these old car interiors are) and is splitting/fraying in areas. We cover it with a blanket when driving. The top operates up and down, owever it is in poor condition and the canvas should be replaced. This car was usually driven with the top down in the summer which is why it was never replaced. The bows appear to be in good shape but the whole system should be oiled and worked around to operate more smoothly.
The tires are 20+ years old and should be inspected before use. Even though they appear to be good shape and have good tread depth, ommon sense should be used before running these tires on the street. The brakes operate as they should.
Overall, his is a great base for a restoration or mild hot rod, r just preserve and drive as an unrestored survivor. Fleetmaster Convertibles are the top of the line and do not come around often, specially ones that have a long ownership history, urrent registration, nd clean title. Bill of sale will complete the transaction. The car is located in Canton, T 06019. $500 non-refundable deposit is due within 48 hours via paypal. The remainder to be paid in full via cash or certified bank check (check must be given time to clear), nd removed from the property within 14 days of auction's end. The car is sold as-is. I have done my best to represent the vehicle as honestly as possible, owever there may be unforeseen issues that I am not currently aware of given the nature of antique unrestored vehicles. It is also listed locally, o I reserve the right to end this auction at any time. Please contact me with any questions. The vehicle will be available for inspection prior auction's end, s in-person inspections are encouraged. You win it, ou own it, o exceptions.
