Description:

1961 Chevrolet Corvette

1961 Corvette Convertible. Real time capsule begging for a new life.
Very original body, erfect frame. One of the straightest early Corvettes I've ever seen.
All bonding strips intact. See inner fender well pictures and picture of body below front license plate brackets showing no repairs or damage to this great condition body. Car was parked due to wiring harness short in the February 1983 and stored in an airplane hanger in Torrance, A, ver since. Great candidate for NCRS Top Flight, loomington Gold or restomod requiring very little body work to be perfect and no frame repairs required to this rust free frame. The frame stencil numbers are still present, nd there is absolutely no pitting, caling or thin spots on this smooth steel frame. It has the numbers matching original engine, riginal cast iron powerglide, riginal third member, arb tag still on carb, arrison radiator, riginal generator.
This may have been a radio delete car as original owner installed an aftermarket radio and antenna more than 30 years ago and there are no ignition shields. I put new tires on it as of 10/2015 as the old tires would no longer hold air. Original interior is all there and needs to be redone due to age and condition of seat covers and carpet. Original soft top with great condition rust free frame. Doors shut with one finger, hrome is original and needs to be done, ll stainless is original. Trunk shows no repairs and is missing original jack and wrench. Original trunk mat is present but is aged and cracked. The only thing I see is a small 1.5" diameter modification done to the recess area at the end of the jack handle in the trunk that would be an easy fix.
Remember, his car has been parked for almost 33 years. I have not done any cleaning or painting to spruce it up for the sale. I sort of wiped the dirt off the VIN tag and that's about it. The engine compartment and underside of the car are just dusty/dirty as seen in the pictures, ot even a tint of rust anywhere. The underside and inner fender wells have had no undercoating sprayed on them which is a big plus when inspecting this car. The vacuum lines attached to the upper radiator hose were part of a bolt-on California smog device that regulated the vacuum advance during warm up, as used in the 1970's and was later abandoned. It's interesting that it is still on the car. This car was part of a large estate sale.
Why start with a basket case when the right car will put you money ahead in making your dream of a 1961 Corvette come true. Bodies and frames are only solid and original once, nd here it is. The last three pictures are of a 1961 Corvette that sold at BJ this year for $240,000 before buyer fee of 10% for a total sales price of $264,000.
