Description:
1954 Chevrolet Corvette
Please note: this vehicle was recently offered at auction without receiving an acceptable bid. Since the end of the auction a prospective buyer attempted to get financing but was not successful so we are returning the car again for sale at a fixed price. This vehicle being offered was purchased by us on January 7th 1972 and after many hours of research to the best of our ability we are the third owner. The car came from Hollywood Florida and was purchased by a single lady who lived about 40 miles from our town. From almost the day of purchase until 2005 at the time of our retirement the car was driven and enjoyed. Following retirement the opportunity to do a frame off restoration came up and what a better way to start using free time than toward the good purpose of restoring a family classic. Every inch of this vehicle was researched and restored to a condition better than when it came off the assembly line in 1954. A complete written and photo account of every step of the restoration was kept along with a ledger of all expenses and receipts for restoration expenses. All this information along with the many awards since restoration will go with the car to a new owner. Since purchasing our Corvette 43+ years ago the car has always been garaged and following the restoration--carpeting and heat was added to the garage to protect the completed project from climate change. We drove the car for over 30 years and it has now become a "Trailer Queen" We have won all the awards that were set as a goal to obtain so now it is time to let someone else enjoy it.The man who owns the restoration shop where the work was done over a period of eight months is a perfectionist. He restores one car at a time and it does not leave his facility until he is 100% satisfied that the owner will be driving and showing an award winning vehicle and to top it off he himself is a Corvette & Vintage car owner so he really knows his trade. This "Perfection" skill he maintains even cost us points when competing for National Corvette Restorers Society Top Flight Awards in that "all the body panels FIT TOO PERFECTLY." Polo White lacquer paint was used in the restoration which is the same as it was painted in 1954. This process is much more costly but "ORIGINALITY" was the key in getting a long lasting "Best Of Show" restoration.Whether or not you have ever done any serious Corvette shopping an explanation of some possible descriptions might be helpful to you........Some people will tell you their car has been Flight Judged. That is true but there are Flight Judging Categories when it come to Corvette Judging. Top Flight is the Best of the Best 2nd Flight is a lower rating and 3rd Flight is the lowest level of competition judging. There is also a Bloomington Gold Certification which is the highest rating and Bloomington Silver which is a lower scoring car. Make sure if you ever have the occasion of purchasing one of these cars to have this claim fully documented. It serves the same value purpose similar to a pedigree of a show dog or race horse. If you are considering buying any Corvette that claims "Flight Judged" don't be afraid to ask what level they received and their percentage score because it has a huge bearing on the sales price. The lower rated awards are commendable but to get to the top can take much more time and sometimes thousands of dollars more in restoring to original condition. We will cooperate in any way with you by answering questions or supplying information to have someone visit and personally inspect this car for consideration. We are not a dealer. Again all records pictures of restoration awards since completed and copies of restoration receipts will go with the car. The car comes also with a fitted car cover and a reproduction owner's manual that was signed in 1972 by Zora Duntov (the Father of Corvettes) when we had the privilege of meeting him while he visited Ohio.A winning bid on this car will require a $1000. non-refundable deposit within 48 hours of the close of auction. Payment in full is required within 7 days of sale and during that time the new owner will have the opportunity to arrange for pick up or transporting of the vehicle. The winner of the auction assumes complete responsibility of this car being transported once it leaves our garage. We will cooperate with a hauler and work at their convenience for pickup.Due to the age of this car their are no warranties. We welcome any and all questions. Thank you for taking time to read the history of "Snow White" as we have called her since the day she arrived in 1972. We look forward to corresponding and talking with interested parties.
