1969 Chevrolet Camaro

By 1969, Chevrolet’s first-generation “F-Body” Camaro had truly come of age, with strong sales driven by its handsome styling, huge option list and brilliant racing success. Conceived and built with development spearheaded by Chevrolet’s Vince Piggins as the GM division’s new SCCA Trans-Am racing contender, the RPO Z28 option package was quietly introduced for the Camaro in 1967 to homologate the car for racing. Careful refinements for 1968 and 1969 further enhanced the concept, with the latter showing a slightly restyled front and rear. At its heart, the Z28 featured a high-winding and tough small-block V-8 engine, combining the basic dimensions of the 327 cylinder block and short-stroke 283 crank to yield 302 CI—just inside the SCCA-mandated displacement limit for Trans-Am racing. Carefully developed underpinnings and other race-inspired tweaks maximized the factory-underrated 290 HP output of the Z28.This Rare Frost Green (paint code 59) 1969 Z28 is a beautifully restored example and includes:DZ-suffix warranty replacement 302/290 HP engineMuncie M-20 4-speed manual transmissionRare radio deleteOriginal 12 Bolt rear end with 3.73 PosiOriginal 1111480 dual point distributor with 9D2 date8000 RPM tachometerPower brakesRare manual steeringOriginal door panels and seatsOriginal consoleFirestone wide oval 15 inch tiresRare non-rear spoiler optionX77 base Z28 trim packageNew DZ carburetor 3923289-DZOriginal intake and air cleanerFactory 15X7 Rally wheelsNew original style mandrel bent exhaustFactory cowl inductionOriginal Norwood trim tag
