FOR SALE - 1966 Chevrolet Corvair Monza - 110 hp convertible.

Due to the unavoidable, unusual and unbelievable state of my retirement accounts, the current political & economic turmoil and the uncertain future of Social Security, I have decided to sell one of my orphan cars. “Ruby Loo Who”, so named by my granddaughters, has been with me for four and one-half years. I have done extensive work on her and have the spreadsheets and receipts to show $14,173.18 in costs paid.

Everything works well, she drives great and her background is as follows: Ruby was purchased in Wisconsin by a family who moved to San Diego in 1987. She sat outside with 21 other cars for 24 years until the original owner passed away. His son housed it in his garage for another ten plus years before I bought her from him. So, she sat for 34+ years without moving much. Now she moves very well. Her paint, although last painted in 1985, looks pretty darn good overall. She could probably use another compounding and wax but I’m just not able at this point.

Here is a listing of the new parts installed: Top, top rubber seals, all wheel cylinders, all shocks, 5 tires, door weather seals, window fuzzies, tachometer, headlight switch, dimmer switch, tail light sockets & rubber seals, driving lights, voltage regulator, spark plug wires, ignition switch, directional signal switch, alternator, viton pushrod tube seals, oil cooler viton seals, lower engine shrouds & seals, head temperature sender, oil pressure switch, fuel sender unit, electric fuel pump & controller, dual exhaust manifolds & mufflers, insulated fuel lines in engine compartment, rebuilt carburetors PLUS there are two “original to the car” rebuilt carbs in a box, a front end stabilizer bar, new speedometer cable, a new lower seat cover and new carpet throughout. Of course there are also too many nuts, bolts, seals, miscellaneous items and rubber pieces to list. The blower motor is out of the car since the old ductwork was rotted and we live in Texas and don’t need any more heat!! There are also boxes of extra, original and new parts.

I have the 1966 Manual & Supplement, a carburetor rebuild book and other literature.

The interior was removed, floor mechanically wire brushed, two coats of Rust-Oleum bare metal primer added, then Rust-Oleum black paint. An adhesive backed 80 mil sound deadener was put down and then the carpet & pad was installed. The 80 mil sound deadener was also put in the doors, on the package shelf and behind the rear seat. The rear seat is not original - it had succumbed, like the top, to the 24 years sitting outside in San Diego. This almost 60 year old car has only 53,137.3 miles on her!! Ruby has been garage kept under a car cover and she has not been wet in 3-½ years! I only use the Chemical Guys Waterless Car Wash to maintain her beauty.

Ruby is a great car. She loves running best at 67 mph, can do 85+ on our toll roads and is always a comfortable joy to drive. If not seen with this ad, I have a start up video, a motor running video and many, many more photos available by email upon request.

Selling “Ruby Loo Who” at $15,500 or best offer. Will accept PayPal payment or eBay Secure Checkout.

Thanks for looking - Dennis in Austin, TX.
