1987 Chevrolet G20 The Ohio State University Chase Conversions "Buckeyes" van, Scarlett and Grey. 40K original miles; I am the fourth owner ... there was a title discrepancy going from original owner to the very-brief second owner, reflects 100K more miles - and he didn't catch the error. The CarFax trail says otherwise ... I battled the Ohio BMV for a year with every manner of documentation they requested, but they will not correct it because the original owner died a long time ago. The story from the third owner (also brief, and all three knew each other) was that it was stored winters and then sat for a very long time ... I corrected sun-fading on the driver's side. It has not been driven in the winter since new, and has not spent a night outdoors since I've owned it.I've owned just a bunch of G20's, and this is a sweetheart. Chase Conversions was in business for about an hour, but I have seen identical ones (not this nice!) at TOSU home games. I bought this as a daily driver, and the engine blew weeks later. It was the height of the pandemic, it was hard to get much of anything - so I would up purchasing a $7000 carbureted Chevrolet Racing 350/375 hp engine with Vortex heads and other goodies. The engine was installed through the bottom by a high-performance shop; everything in the front end was replaced before re-installing. Engine was properly broken in according to Chevy specs, and the TH-375 was rebuilt with a performance torque converter.The body had a smallish rust hole beneath the rear driver's side window; have photos, and the leak was a result of the shrunken weatherstripping. There's a little bubble beneath the middle window, very little. All of body and window weatherstripping is new. The hood was re-sprayed (nothing is decals, it's all paint), and the running boards were removed and restored. There is a hard-to-see rub on the front passenger side door - no paint damage - and the rear ladder has a gotta-look ding.Interior very good; original owner was a smoker (or welder?), one seat has scattered burn holes, see photos. I spent the last three years puttering on it ...I have shampooed everything, carpet dyed, curtains dyed, all trim wood was brightened, and a most of the plastic trim has been sprayed to look like new. Shows very well, nearly new; I am missing the table and the rear curtains. I have the original parts that were upgraded, steering wheel, factory radio, original Rally wheels on decent tires, etc. The van has Chevrolet "Super Sport" wheels, tires have around the same miles as the engine, two thousand.I have many photos that I hope to get on Dropbox or the like, and a great deal of documentation on the restoration. I have hundreds of hours puttering on this van. If I remove a fastener: stainless steel goes back in. It has never been rust-proofed or coated, everything beneath is just the way it came. There is a trailer hitch, but no ball mount has been in it, no scratches.Alpine bluetooth receiver, all speakers are new with subwoofer; not crazy-loud system, but very rich sound.The good: I've always had a cool summer car, but this one attracts the most attention of anything I've owned ... accustomed to people waiting by it when I come out of the store. It is also just stupid-quick, the terror of the neighborhood ... the engine has a great lope at idle that turns into music when you put your foot in it. It hasn't been driven hard, but once in a while at a red light! The bad: this is not a daily driver, nor something one would take on vacation. I asked for a "quiet as possible" exhaust behind the Summit long-tube headers, and it is anything but ... it either needs a resonator or a proper dual-exhaust. Bad decision on my part. It's also pretty vicious on gas, but it's a hoot.I have health issues, including a mostly-metal spine; I have another old G20, and it's gotten really difficult climbing in and out of either, I need a new automotive interest.This van got a lot of attention tailgating at The Horshoe, and it didn't look like this at the time. Show your fandom and perhaps return it to it's native Columbus!I arrived at the price by adding a little for my time into what I've invested in it ... not much pricing references of value because of the condition and uniqueness.
