Vehicle Details

You are bidding on my 1978 Chevy Crew Cab 2WD pickup. It is the top of the line Silverado Camper Special. I have owned this truck for several months but it’s time for someone else to enjoy it.

The truck was purchased new on May 19, 1978, at G&L Chevrolet Buick in Roosevelt, Utah. It’s my understanding spent most of its life in Utah before coming to South Georgia a few years ago. I have some of the original paperwork as well as all reciepts of everything I have done. The options decal is still on the inner glove box door.

The truck is a 454 that is strong with no smoke and an automatic that shifts smooth. It has a posi track with 4.10 gears in the back. It has 2 new stock mufflers and donut gaskets between the headers and exhaust. I would not hesitate to drive this truck anywhere!

I bought this truck with the intention of making it a cool driver. I put a Switch Suspension 3/4” drop on it with Bell Tech Nitro Drop shocks. All new sway bar bushings, ball joints and outer rod ends were installed at that time. I removed the 16.5” wheels and replaced them with 16” GM steel wheels on 225/75/16 Goodyear Wrangler ST tires. The original 16.5” wheels will go with the truck.

I have spent a considerable amount of time on the interior of this truck. I removed the dash, door panels, all interior surround trim and they were cleaned and re-dyed using factory colors. I replaced all the small interior pieces that get lost or worn out over the years. The dash cluster was removed and cleaned with the gauge needles repainted and new back light bulbs installed. The cluster bezel itself and clear lens have both been replaced. All AC vents have been replaced with new units and are nice and snug. All ventilation ducting is present and connected. The door panels had speakers cut into them back in the early '80's (I have the paperwork) so I replaced the old Pioneers with new speakers that the previous owner included with the sale. The previous owner also included a Bluetooth receiver that I installed under the dash so I could listen to satellite radio or whatever I chose off my phone. I put a stock radio face into the factory location for a true factory look. The carpet is original and complete, but is tired and could use replacement. The seats have blanket style covers on them. My next project was to replace the carpet ($350) and seat covers ($229 ea).

The exterior of the truck has been repainted sometime in its life in the original deluxe combo of Cordova Brown with Tan which was so popular in the 1970’s. I replaced ALL door and window felts and rubber surrounds and put sound deadening mat in the front doors so everything closes smooth and tight and actually better than new. The clear coat is gone in several places on the fenders and doors (see photo for an example) but the truck still shines up well as you can see in the photos.

There are spots on the lower body and cab corners that that have rusted through (see photos for an idea of the condition) but I have looked thoroughly at the rest of the body and it is nice condition. I have inspected the rest of the body and the frame and they are SOLID. I’m not a body man and I wouldn’t have purchased this truck if it was not a very manageable repair by any reputable body shop.

This is a 7 day auction with a very reasonable reserve on a rare, dependable and fun truck. I require a $500 non refundable deposit within 24 hours of auctions end via PAYPAL.
