1980 Chevrolet Camaro 'SS' - 350/Turbo 400/T-tops
1980 Chevrolet Camaro
Chevrolet stopped building the Camaro SS after 1972...but what if they brought it back in 1980? That was the idea behind the build of this factory T-top Camaro. I found a very clean car which already had a strong 350 engine (aluminum heads, Holley 750, Edelbrock, headers, etc), as well as a Turbo 400 trans and 3.73 posi rear. I figured the SS would be all business and more subtle than the Z28, so no loud stripes, gills or wheel spoilers. The paint is single stage urethane Eastwood Can Am white - an early 70's Camaro/Corvette color. The blackout trim was done with Kirker Hot Rod black. The Z28 scoop is functional and can be opened/closed with a switch. On the inside I added some gauges in a custom console pod and kept the rest clean and stock. SS badges from a '71 were installed on the outside, with the 350 callouts as well. I had a set of factory 5-spoke wheels blasted and painted early style gray, with new trim rings, center caps and tires. It has headers and a full 3" inch exhaust, so it sounds aggressive when you get into it. The car is fast, but still cruises nicely down the road. The engine bay is clean, as is the trunk area. Floors and 1/4 panels are solid. The seals for the t-tops, windows and doors are newer. Power windows, power disc brakes, lights/gauges/horn all work fine. There is an aftermarket radio in the glove box with CD/Ipod jack that sounds good. Originally an A/C car, but the compressor was removed during the engine swap. There are 10k miles on the drivetrain - 95k on the body. Dealers and overseas buyers are welcome. I will work with your shipper as needed. I will add additional pics during the listing. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding! Please note - Pic of '71 SS is included for comparison only.
