1956 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210

The last owner of this 1956 Chevy parked it at his father's home in 1970 when he was drafted into the Army where it would wait for his return. Unfortunately he did not. In 1995, the parents sold the house and retired. I bought the car in 1995, and stored it in a garage in Rosemead. The registration was current when I bought it, but did a Planned Non-Operation on the registration as California requires insurance on currently registered vehicles. In 2020 I brought the car home as a project during the COVID lockdown. I went through the fuel system: cleaned the tank, new fuel sender, new fuel pump and rebuilt carburetor. I also did the brakes: Power front disc brakes conversion, new rear brake shoes and wheel cylinders plus new brake hoses. Cooling system: new aluminum radiator, new water pump and thermostat.
The car is pretty basically how it was left by the former owner. It has a 327 cubic inch engine out of a 68 Camaro with angled plug heads. Headers, Holley carb, T-10 4 speed trans and stock 3.55 rear end.
The top was showing signs of surface rust so I had it painted. While it was being painted I removed the front and rear window. I had a new windshield installed and new rubber seals. The rear glass was good.
The headliner was falling down so I had a new one installed. The carpet was bad and I replaced it with one for a 57 Ford, which does not quite fit, but is useable.
The wheels (Cragars) and tires were replaced with period correct American Torque Thrusts, 14x7 front and 15x7 rears with new tires.
I installed a Pertronix electronic ignition. I found a new rear bumper and hood bird. I replaced the old valve covers with Corvette aluminum ones. I replaced the original starter with a high torque one and bought a new battery. I replaced the old generator with a one-wire chrome alternator
I have been driving the car fairly often and it is very dependable. The only problem I have had is the throw-out bearing froze up and had to be replaced.
If you have any questions, or need more photos, let me know. I am not a motivated seller as this is a nice car.
I am retired and could deliver the car to the southwest US for a reasonable fee, which would have to be agreed upon before the end of the sale, or I could assist the winning buyers shipper
