This is a 1964 Chevrolet Chevelle El Camino custom built 4x4. The complete1964 El Camino body was put onto a modified 1970’sJeep J10 pickup chassis for the 4x4 conversion a long time ago. It uses the original Jeep (AMC) 401 cubic-inch V-8 engine, automatic transmission, Quadra-Trac transfer case, along with the original front and rear differentials that came with the donor Jeep J10 chassis. The El CaminoVIN number is45680L110018 and ithas a clean and clear Pennsylvania title. The odometer shows a mileage of 46,299 but that is most likely incorrect so the true mileage is considered unknown. It runs, drives, and makes a great head turner just as it is but would also make a nice start for someone that wants a project to completely restore into a beautiful custom showpiece. I did not build it but purchased this custom built 4x4El Camino just as it is about 18-years ago from Oregon and had it transported across the country to me inPennsylvania. The original 1970’sJeep J10 chassis was modified and has had custom mounts added so that the complete 1964 El Camino body could be installed with only a little modification to the floor for the 4x4 transfer case and system clearance. The custom mounts added to the original Jeep J10 chassis allow the El Camino body to primarily mount in it’s original locations just as it would on a stock chassis. The use of 1970’s Jeep J10 chassis using the Quadra-Trac transfer case was a great choice for a custom project like this because no handles, levers, or linkage needs to protrude through the floor for 4x4 operation. The Quadra-Trac system which was revolutionary in the 1970’s is the general basis for many all-wheel-drive vehicles today. The 401 cubic-inch V-8 (AMC) engine is basically completely stock and runs good with a lot of power. The engine carburetor could use a rebuild or replacement because the accelerator pump and automatic choke do not work properly which can make it a little hard to start cold and stay running until it is warmed up a bit. There is a brand new vacuum control valve for the Quadra-Trac transfer case and an original used Jeep vacuum control switch to mount inside the interior to operate the Quadra-Trac system as shown pictured. The vacuum control switch would have originally been mounted in the glove box of a 1970’s Jeep J-10 pickup. None of the vacuum controls for the Quadra-Trac system have ever been hooked up and need to be completed for the all-wheel-drive 4x4 system operate. The body of the El Camino is in decent and relatively solid overall condition, especially for a 1964, with just some small dents and moderate rust needing repair here and there in some areas. The paint is obviously old, faded, and has chips, nicks, and scratches throughout. As can be seen in the pictures of the interior it does need some work but is not terrible. The right side window regulator needs to be replaced but a good used regulator is included along with a new reproduction black interior door panel for that side. A new reproduction black interior door panel was already installed on the left side. This is a neat looking along with running and driving vehicle that would make a great project to have some fun with! This an old used vehicle which does now and will need future work and repairs so it is being sold completely “AS IS” with absolutely “NO WARRANTY” expressed or implied. Though the El Camino runs and drives it would not be recommended to nor should it be driven any long distance until it has been gone over mechanically.
