This 1968 ChevroletCamaro Z/28 (Chassis124378N466462)isone of less than 200 ’68 Z/28s sold in Canada.It is offered bythe Fourth ownerwho has had the car since 2012. The third owner purchased the car in1978. The third owner and his best friend Tom Hnatiw, had many great yearsdriving the Z28 to race tracks throughout the Northeast and participating indrivers education events.This is thevery car that introduced TV Host Tom Hnatiw (Hard Drive Television, Dream CarGarage, Car Guys) to the high performance car culture back in 1979. He and theowner built the car for road racing and fast street use 40 years ago, and brought it out of storage in 2010 and freshened it to once again perform on the track.

Built inMay of 1968, the GM Canada documents supplied by the seller and theProtect-o-Plate verify it as an authentic Z/28 sold new through Dean MyersChev-Olds in Toronto.The car was track-prepped in the early 1980s andcompeted in Autocross, Solo 1, and various events at Mosport Park, ShannonvilleMotorsports Park, and Watkins Glen… always driven to the track and alwaysstreet legal. Itwas trackfreshened and tested in September 2011 at Toronto Motorsport Park after atwenty year hiatus. Four episodes of Hard Drive Television, including the tracktest with Tom Hnatiw at the wheel, featured the car and are included below.They show great detail shots of the interior and underbody.The chassisis fully developed with thru-floor welded frame connectors and integralsix-point cage.Rear suspension is 12 bolt 3.73 geared rear axle locatedwith a competition Panhard rod, Eaton five leaf de-arched springs, andhorizontal axle-control shocks.Front suspension is tubular upper andlower A-arms, bump steered with adjustable coil-overs. Brakes are 11.75 inchChevrolet disc brakes on all four wheels, with four piston stainless lined calipers and adjustable front-rear proportioning.Wheels are 17 inchAmerican Torq Thrust (new) with fresh rubber. Ride height is set for roadracing.Theengine is a fresh (maybe 10 hours) John Rossiter (Beatty & Woods) built7500 RPM, 450Horsepower Cross-Ram (dual 600 c.f.m. Holley mechanical secondary carbs) 302cubic inch Chevy with .040 overbore, indexed & nitrided steel crank, CrowerSportsman rods with full floating pins and double TruArc retention. Heads areported and cc’d angle plug “double bumps” with titanium spring retainers,Crower stainless steel roller rockers, and guide plates. There is an aircraft engineoil-cooler and remote full flow filter with a “trap door” road race oil pan andAccusump hydraulic pressure accumulator. Exhaust is via Hooker Alumi-coatHeaders into 3-inch Lakes tubes with locking plate and 2.5 inch core CanaMexmufflers.The transmission is a four-speed aluminum case Muncie M-22transmission (a real one, not an M-20 or M-21). There is nothing like a302 Z28 at 7500 RPM’s, it sounds more like a Ferrari than a Chevrolet
