1948 Chevrolet Pickup

General–Hi there, what we have here is a 1948 Chevrolet, 3600, flatbed. Yes, it has a clean notarized and transferable title. This truck came out of the western Montana wheat farm/ranch territory. The 1947 thru 1955 “Advanced Design” Chevy is one of the most sought after of all collector pickups. However, any more these trucks pretty much fall into two categories: the first being a total basket case, beyond restoration, and good only for parts. The second category is one which is already restored and well beyond most budgets. This is the hard to find in between and is an excellent candidate for restoration. I do not normally advocate making a hot rod out of these old trucks, but since you will need to replace the engine a retromod or whatever they call them these days might be an option for this one, especially if you have a small block V8 lying around. .

Mechanical-The original engine is still in the truck but missing its cylinder head. The transmission, clutch, driveshaft, and differential are all present and I believe are original. Beyond this I just do not know, as I have obviously never driven the truck.

Exterior- Nice overall condition very little rust through. Back in the day many Montana farmer/ranchers would buy a cab/chassis and then install their own custom built grain box, flatbed, water tanker, weed sprayer, wrecker, or whatever. In its present configuration you can go any direction you want. You could find an original box, or if I were to keep it, I would not do a thing to the body but put a nice oak or walnut floor on the bed. The truck does have 75 years of dents, dings, cracks, welds, paint chips and peeling, and blemishes. What rust there is mostly confined to the cab corners, minimal in the floors and a small spot above the windshield. The worst of the dents is the drivers cowl where the door came around and put a dent in the cowl. No matter whether restoration or hot rod is your goal, you are money and time ahead by starting with as solid and rust fee vehicle as you can possibly find, (see pictures). The running boards are present and presentable. The splash pan that connects to the front bumper is almost always missing on these old trucks, but this one is unmolested, (see picture). For the buy it now price I will include a very nice set of back in the day west coast mirrors (see picture).

Interior– Not much to talk about here. The seat is original, or era correct and has at some point been recovered (see picture). All gages and instruments are present as are all switches and knobs. Neither the dash nor doors have been cut or modified in any way. Three windows are cracked. The interior of this truck is all there; if you are going for an original restoration - clean it, sand it, and paint it.If you are going for a hot rod, then you probably already have your own ideas.

Summary –The simplicity of an old pickup is what makes its restoration so popular and easy. This one would make a great project for a father and son/daughter, the guys in the shop, or whoever. The old truck deserves another chance in life to show up at your local car show, or for work with your business logo, race team, or cause on the doors.

Payment, Disclaimers, Storage, and Transportation- I require a nonrefundable deposit of $500.00 within 48 hours preferably by PayPal, and the remainder by bank to bank or cashier’s check or cash in person, prior to me sending you the title. Well, I have tried to represent the old truck as honestly and accurately as I can; please read this ad thoroughly and look closely at the pictures. The truck is sold as is, where is, and with no guarantee nor warrantee implied or specified.Make no mistake the truck is still a project. I am very proud of my 100% eBay customer satisfaction rating and will answer questions. I will post some of them so that others may benefit. The truck is stored in a secure compound and can remain so if you pay the rent of $45 per month. If you send after the truck, I will help your shipper in any way I can. You should advise your shipper the truck does not move under its own power.
