Description:

1964 Chevrolet Corvette

This treasured C2 was purchased in 1975 in Nashville primarily as a daily driver for the wifey. And drive it she did! Over the years, the family regularly participated in local Corvette Club outings and allowed their teenage daughters take it out for a spin. It's a rare automatic. In 1964, Chevrolet produced 22K corvettes—of these—37% were coupes and only 12% had automatic transmissions.
About 10+ years ago, the owner (by then in his 70s) simply lost the energy needed to keep it running (he was midway through a tedious headlight bearing repair). The car was running when it was parked, but it has not been started in 10+ years. As the photos show, the car is in good condition for its age without any major modifications. The family are the second owners. The car has undergone two rounds of body/mechanical refurbishments—once in the early 90s and again around 2000. It hurts to sell this beloved family car; however now is your chance to snap up this classic corvette at a reasonable price.
MECHANICAL—The odometer shows 6K miles, indicating it has turned over totaling 106K miles. Under the hood, the car has its original #’s matching 327/250 V8 powerglide automatic engine. The engine stamp reads 4107048 FI204SC indicating it was manufactured Dec 1963 in Flint, which matches the VIN# 40837S107048. In the 90s the transmission was re-built (unsure if original or a replacement) and the cylinders were bored out to approximately 260hp. The rings were also replaced. All body and mechanical work was completed by local professionals.- Original crank- Original cam- Radiator was repaired years ago- Needs a new fuel pump
When asked to describe how it drove, the owner said, “It drove like a Vette!”
EXTERIOR- The car was Ermine white from the factory and then painted red in the late 70s. The windshield, side and back windows are original “soft ray” factory glass. The frame and birdcage are solid. The undercarriage has no issues beyond surface rust. In 2000, the stress cracks in the fiberglass panels were repaired and the car was re-painted back to white. The chrome trim, emblems, and hubcaps are original. The original hood was swapped for a 1966 big block by the first owner.
INTERIOR—The red vinyl interior and red carpet was replaced with corvette stock years ago and is in fair condition. There are no rips or tears in the seats. The interior shows no signs of water intrusion. The dash and original instrument panel are intact. The car includes factory heat and AM/FM radio.
