Chevy C10 LS Swapped Squarebody
1976 Chevrolet C-10
1976 Chevrolet C10 Bonanza Edition shortbed pickup finished in Rosedale Red. Turn-Key LS Swapped cruiser.
Build Background:
Growing up, my dad had a similar C10, and when I finally found a local rust-free example with a similar Burgundy color, I jumped on the opportunity to buy and build my dream truck. The gentleman I purchased the truck from had driven from Miami to Alabama to pick up this particular example - he owned it for a few years until I bought it at the end of 2021. I received the C10 in it’s mostly original state, except for the radio and the Ridler wheels which remain on the truck. The Engine Swap and all subsequent work was performed by the professionals at Smit Autoworks in Miami, FL throughout 2022. Invoices and part receipts are included with the sale.
For me, planning and executing the build was a thrill, and after enjoying the truck over the last months, I’ve decided to list this beauty for sale and focus on finding the next project.
Build Breakdown:
Interior:
Features a rare Buckskin and Red Knit bench seat which was a Bonanza Edition exclusive trim option. This is the original bench seat and fabric, it has not been reupholstered and retains it’s factory appearance - absolutely no tears or stains. Although tucked behind the seat for pictures, the truck does have driver and passenger seatbelt buckles as well as the center lap belt and buckle.
The Factory radio has been upgraded with a Bluetooth Pioneer Head Unit and 2 Pioneer speakers located behind the bench seat.
Fuel Level, Oil Pressure, Voltage, Coolant Temperature and Clock gauges are all functional and display accurate readings.
Speedometer gauge does not display traveling speed. There is no issue with the gauge itself, it was working perfectly with the original drivetrain.
To put it simply, the Gauge has a mechanical input, while the 4L60E Transmission that’s currently installed has a digital output. An adapter is need in order for the factory cable-driven mechanical speedometer to use an electric speed signal via gps.
Exterior:
Rust-free exterior and underbody. Original Cab and Bed without patched or welded corders. The truck’s paint was recently professionally cut, polished and sealed in February 2023. The factory aluminum bed is now covered by a custom weatherproof Douglas Fir Bed which was installed in December of 2022. The individual wood panels and chrome retainer strips are easily removable is desired.
Powertrain:
Engine:
5.3L Vortec V8 engine with paint matched LS3 Engine Cover.
The original 350 engine was replaced with a 5.3L V8 engine pulled from a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with just 40,000 miles. The Engine Harness and ECU are also from the same donor truck. The Engine Harness has been stripped down to include only necessary wiring - all superfluous accessory wires have been de-pinned and removed. The OBDII diagnostic port is located on the underside of the dash for easy access.
The engine bay features custom fabricated aluminum radiator cowl and brake booster cover, as well as paint matched inner fenders. The covers are purely aesthetic and are easily removable for servicing. The firewall was partially shaved and painted upon removing the factory 350. Hood Hinges have been replaced to optimize hood to fender alignment.
The Engine had the following work done prior to it's installation in this C10:
-Valve Cover Gaskets
-Oil Pan Gasket
-Oil Pump Pickup Tube O-Ring
-Oil Filter Housing Gasket
-Water Pump and Thermostat
-Drive Belt
-Drive Belt Tensioner
-Rear Main Seal (Rear Crankshaft Oil Seal)
-Front Timing Cover and Gasket
-Engine Mounts
-Coolant Temp Sensor
-Power Steering Pressure Hose & Return Hose
-Oxygen Sensors
Exhaust System is comprised of Polished Stainless Steel Shorty Headers running straight back to individual Flowmaster Mufflers.
