1968 Chevrolet Camaro Super Sport

1968 Matador RED Chevrolet Camarow/ Super Sport Bumblebee Nose Stripe and a Muncie 4 speed being sold at auction for NO RESERVE!

The sales literature from 1968 said the 2nd year Camaro was for the "FUN CROWD" and it was a "Husky performer and looks it!" Although little changed from the 2nd year of Camaro production, Minor changes were made to the front and rear of the car. Front turn signals were changed, side marker lights were added, and the vent windows were removed. All minor stuff which says that overall, the designers got it right the first time! It is a complete package of styling and muscle. This 1968 Chevy Camaro with a V8 4 Barrel carb backed up to a M20 Muncie 4-speed Manual trans with Power steering and power brakes is everything you need to burn rubber all day long! This was your Father's Camaro if he was the cool Dad in the neighborhood!Opportunities like this don't come around very often. 1960's Camaros have proven to be one of the most expensive and highly sought after years to acquire from the pinnacle of the muscle car era. These cars become more desirable andgo up in Value with each year. Buying a classic Camaro of this Era, Is an investment that isaguarantee to pay off in the future. Some people even referto Camaro's as rolling bank accounts.

I have driven this car and ran it through all the gears with no issues, and it seems to run and drive very well. In my opinion. This vehicle was well taken care of, and in very nice condition for its age. You would have no problems getting attention driving this beauty! This is my personal Vehicle and I have a clean Wisconsin title in my name.

I was told by the previous owner that the car was taken apart and re-painted 2 years ago. The floors were replaced along with a complete trunk floor. They put new rear quarters and replaced the rear lower valance. This was when it was painted Matador Red turned into an SS tribute with the SS bumblebee nose stripe and blacked out taillight paneland new SS badging. At that time, the new blackvinyltop was replaced. You can see it has lots of new chrome and existingchrome is still bright and shows good. Front and rear windshieldshave new stainless along with trim, on door tops. New stainless was also installed around the vinyl top. Both front and rear bumpers were replaced along with new door handles and driver'sdoor mirror. Glasslooks original except maybe the front windshield, and it looks goodfor itsage. It has a steel hood with Big Block SS twin bank hood vents and rear SS spoiler. Both the hood and trunk function as they should. Doors both open andclose tight with all new window seals, along with new door seals. Trunk seals have also been replaced. All 4 windows work, althoughrear windows are a little stiff from lack of use. Inside door handles work without effort along with outside handles as well. Both door lock cylinders work along with locks and trunk lock works as it should.

I was told the engine was rebuilt some time before the body work, and it is a V8 350 ci 4 Bolt Main. I ran the engine Casting numbers and they say the same. It has a 4 barrelelectronic choke. Edelbrockperformer carb and intake. Carb is a 600 CFM square bore. It has a high energyignition distributorwith vacuum timing advance, and Premium 8mm wires. The engine startsup beautifullyeverytime, evenin cold temperatures with just 1 pump of the gas pedal. The 4 speed manual trans is a Muncie M20 wide ratio, and it has a hurst shifter and it shifts nicely. The clutch works as it should. There is a set of long tube performance headers joined to 2.5 inch True dual exhaust all the way back they sounds great! There is also a set of Moroso Tall Chrome valve covers to dress the engine up. It has an aluminum 4 core radiator to keep this engine cool at 180 degrees. The engine oilpump runs at 60 psi at start up, and a new fuel line has been run from the tank to the motor along with a new fuel tank.

The interior has been restored, dashboard painted along with a new dash pad. All 4 door panels have been replaced along with the headliner and new sail panels. This car has front bucket seats that have been re-covered along with the rear seats. The steering wheel has been replaced along with new black carpet. Both front seats have been fitted with period correct flip up release seatbelts. The speedometer works and shows 67,425 miles undocumented. Gas gauge works as it should. and has a Sunpro Supertach which works. There is a 3-gaugepod mounted under dash to make sure the engine is running right. The original radio, which doesn'twork is still mounted in the dash. Blowermotor works on all speeds. The heat works and vents switch from floor to defrost. Wipers work and have a new switch mounted on bottom of dashboard. The headlights work with a pull of the switch, and the dash lights work as well. The high beam light switch is located on the floor and works as it should along with the indicator. The horn does not work. The interior dome light works when you open the door. The 4 running lights work, and same for the brake lights. All 4 turn signals flash and work as they should, including the indicator. Even the key in ignition warning buzzer works when door is open.

I was told this car is equipped with power steering from the factory and has a newer pump and hoses. This car drives nice and straight down the road with ease thanks to this beautiful power steeringoption. It also has a new vacuumpower brakebooster and master cylinder. All 4 brakes work great and this car stops on a dime! There are new brake hose installed in the front along with new brake lines from front to rear. There are new wheel cylinders, Hoses, brake hardware and shoes installed in the rear. Up front the shocks are new and new front sway bar links to help this beast handle properly. The ball joints and tie rods are all nice and tight. In the rear end there have been new shocks installed along with new rear leaf springs, shackles and U-Bolts. This Red beauty is sporting a ice set of Rally wheels with Chrome trim rings and chrome Chevrolet motor division center caps. The tires on this car are a staggered size tire for that muscle car look with GT radial tires sz 205/70R14 Up front, and 205/75R15 in the rear. All 4 tires are in like new condition and still showing the tits on the wheels. Parking brake does not work but I always leave it in gear.
