1971 Chevrolet Camaro Super Sport

Vehicle Details

Up for sale is a beautiful 1971 Chevrolet Camaro SS in factory correct Mulsanne blue paint as well as the correct high back bucket seats with black interior. This is a real deal Z27 code Super Sport with the factory, documented matching numbers 350 cubic inch 270 horsepower engine as shown in the photos. Image of cowl tag is also included to verify this is a real SS. The transmission is an automatic Turbo Hydormatic 350 which is believed to be original but is not documented. This Super Sport still sports its original exhaust manifolds. It has power steering, power brakes (front disc/rear drum) and factory air conditioning. Air conditioning blows, but is not cold. Heat works great. Rear gear is 3.08:1. This car rolled off the Norwood assembly plant during the fourth week of January, 1971. This Camaro still retains its original, factory applied red oxide floor primer as evidenced in the photos. Never rustproofed or painted over. You can see every inch of the rock solid floorboards. The factory applied primer is also still visible in the untouched trunk. Spending most of its life in southern and western climates, this car's straight sheetmetal reflects such favorable environments. The trunk retains the original factory applied spatter paint and has some light surface rust as shown. The trunk was never "touched up" or resprayed. A copy of the most recent South Carolina title will be included. Original mileage is "unkown" and cannot be verified but odometer reads 25,000.

Under prevous ownership, this car was repainted at some point in its factory Mulsanne blue color and still shines nicely. This car is really straight. Door, hood and trunk seams are nicely spaced and even. Weather stripping was replaced and is not cracked or brittle. All belts and hoses are also not cracked. The chrome bumpers, emblems and trim are all bright and are in excellent condition. Glass is chip and crack free. The engine was also nicely detailed and is very clean. An Edelbrock 600 cfm four barrel carburator was also installed. At that time, the chin spoiler and rear trunk spoiler were both tasetfully added. Those were both available Camaro options in 1971. Brand new 15 x 8 Cragar "SS Style" vintage, period correct, aftermarket rims were also added wrapped in classic white letter BF Goodrich Radial T/A's.

Under my ownership, a factory spec custom dual exhaust was professionally intalled along with a single mounted Magnaflow correct performance muffler. The exhaust tips are original style chrome outlets and look great. I believe this car sounds like the day it rolled off the assembly line. Additionally, the brake system was flushed and a new (remanufactured) power brake booster and new (remanufactured) Wearever master cylinder were put in. A new Champion 72 mos. battery was also added. Additional receipts for various maintenance items (oil and filter changes, battery cables, shift cable rubber boot, steering column rubber boot, radiator flush) will also be provided. This car has been well maintained and drives and sounds like a reliable classic should.

For what its worth, this Camaro placed 3rd in a well attended, local, "professionally judged" car show in 2022 for the Stock 1970-1979 category. It was the only car show I entered the car in during my ownership and I came home with a trophy.

This car comes with a clean Illinois motor vehicle title in the seller's name, binder full of receipts documenting the investment, parts purchased and maintenance going back all the way to 2004. The car's southern and western history is also documented with the receipts. Older pictures will also be included showing the car's appearance with original hubcaps and whitewall tires.

If requested, I can arrange for an in person viewing if requested by a serious buyer before the listing ends but will do so only at my local police station during daytime hours.
