Description:

1988 Chevrolet Camaro

This original classic survivor comes with the highly desired 350 ci. engine and all the options for 1988.
I am the second owner and have owned this car since 2002. This beauty has been stored for most of this time. To the best of my knowledge, it has not been in an accident; all the VIN tags are in place on the body panels and the CARFAX was clean when I bought it. It currently has only 72,500 miles on the clock. Also, the T-tops don’t leak and have NEVER leaked! This Camaro Iroc-Z runs very well and stops and handles as it should.
Interior
Interior is in almost mint condition with a little bit of sun fading in certain areas that are not very noticeable. Seats definitely have the support and comfort of a low-mileage IROC-Z that you would not experience in a high-mileage IROC-Z. There are no rips or tears in the seating fabric. Most of the plastics are in great shape; however due to age, some of the plastics are cracked. For example, at the center console shift plate, some of the corners where the screws attach are cracked. The dash in this car is in perfect shape and has no sun damage. The steering wheel leather wrapping is also in excellent condition. The headliner fabric is in great shape; it has a little bit of a sag to it due to wearing adhesive. But it is not real noticeable.
Exterior
In regards to paint and body, the car is very presentable and has a nice shine. Nevertheless, it does have some small dings on both doors and a minor scratch on the top of the bumper. I would rate the paint and body of this classic 8 out 10. Overall this very beautiful car could be taken to various car shows for presentation as not many of these ’82 -’92 Camaros are in this kind of condition anymore.
Engine and Transmission
Engine runs very smoothly. I have kept up on maintenance on this car including tune-ups and timely oil changes. Transmission shifts the way it should. Fluid has been changed regularly over the years.
Sound System
The car has the original speakers and sound system in place, although the radio sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t. The cassette player doesn’t work at all.

Maintenance and Upgrades
Below are the maintenance and upgrades that have been done to this Camaro throughout the years:
1. Brand NEW BF Goodrich tires were added 500 miles ago.
2. Umi subframe connectors were added to protect the unibody structure.
3. BRAND NEW stainless works exhaust was added from the catalytic converter back as the original exhaust system was worn out due to aging.
4. Fuel pump and sending unit have been replaced with NEW ones.
5. Engine was refreshed with NEW top end rebuild with NEW head gaskets, exhaust manifold gaskets, intake gaskets, and valve cover gaskets. This was done about 2K miles ago to ensure reliability.
6. The hatch motor was totally rebuilt with NEW parts so that the hatch opens and closes the way it was designed to operate.
7. New front brakes and rotors have been installed as well.
8. I upgraded the fan switch to 185 degree. Car runs nice and cool in stopped traffic. There are no worries of overheating.9. Battery acid ate through the original battery tray when I first bought the car. Yet the battery tray was replaced and repaired by a body shop. I wasn't 100% pleased with the repair but the battery is secure--so no worries of battery falling through.

Although the car is in great shape, appearance and mechanical condition, this 30-plus year old vehicle has some minor issues. Those issues are the following:
1. The air conditioner worked great at one point but after storing the car over a winter, it quit cooling. This might be due to a possible leak.
2. The new sending unit doesn’t work correctly. For example, when the gas tank is full, it reads 3/4 full and when empty, it still reads at about 1/4 full.
Although I have tried to explain everything about the car, it is possible that I may have missed something. The car is being sold AS-IS. I encourage all potential buyers to inspect the car over before bidding/buying. I will be more than happy to work with a car inspector of choice and shipping company of your choice that you decide to use for purchase. Nevertheless, this is a special classic and a time capsule for sure. I did everything possible to keep it in original OEM condition. Don’t miss out on your chance to own this classic 80’s Camaro or your dream car! It is indeed a SMOOTH operator!
