1976 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray with T-Tops and a 4-Speed
1976 Bright Red Chevrolet Corvette Stingray with T-Tops and a 4-Speed selling at "No Reserve"This 1976 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray was purchased from my buddy's cousin in Racine, Wisconsin. It was his pride and joy! Several years back he was involved in a very bad accident. He was walking home from his local corner store, and two guy were drag racing nearby. They both lost control, but one car wound up driving up on the sidewalk ending up on top of my buddy's cousin. He was flight for lifed from the scene, and miraculously recovered. He spent almost a year in the hospital. Needless to say, he can't drive a 4-speed anymore. We struck up a deal and that's how I wound up with this cool classic Corvette. I have no room to store it, so it needs to go to a new owner who can take good care of it and do the few things that need to be attended to on the car.

With each passing year it is becoming increasingly more difficult to find any decent Stingray from the 1968-1982 years. I am a 442 guy and really never learned much about Corvette's, but I've always loved the Stingray body style. This previous owner had owned this Corvette for about 10 years. He always kept it garage kept and I was told the prior owner before him had always kept it in a heated garage. Somewhere along the line someone changed the front and the rear end to the updated 1980 style. That's why it has the flared look. I feel it was a nice upgrade.
I will explain everything I found out from the prior owner. This Stingray has the original L-48 350 engine and 4-speed transmission from 1976. Everything looks all original under the hood, but like I've mentioned I don't really know Corvette's. It starts right up, runs, drives, and stops. The engine sounds strong. They installed a brand-new master cylinder to drive the car to me from Racine to Kenosha. Approximately 11 miles, but the brake light is on, so the brakes probably need to be bled.It has black bucket seats that are in really decent condition for being original from 1976. it even has the cool original arm rest. Those I was told are usually long gone. The T-Tops work well and I haven't seen any leaking while I've owned the car.It does have the 160mph speedo, and I was told the mileage showing is the original mileage. I have a tendency to believe that to be factual, because no one I've ever known has driven their Corvette in the winters. The clutch feels good to me as well.
The winning bidder of this Bright Red Corvette will most likely have endless thumbs up wherever they drive. I was told this is an original Red Corvette. You should have an outgoing personality to drive a car like this, because everywhere you go people will be attracted to you like a magnet. This is a great car to show up at your local town cruise nights or for attending the local weekend car shows. It looks really cool with the T-tops off, but when I took it to take pictures the other day it was way too cold. The pop-up headlights both work as they should. That was the only time I drove the car about a mile away from my house.
This Stingray comes equipped with Power Steering, Power Four Wheel Disc Brakes, Dual Chrome Sport Mirrors, Bucket Seats, Dual Exhaust, and best of all it has a 4-speed with a console. The interior looks nice as seen in the pictures. The carpet is in good condition, and a brand-new pair of deluxe black carpeted floor mats were just placed on the floors in preparation for this sale. There is a set of four of the original Corvette deep dish Chevy rally sport wheels with all four center caps, and all four beauty trim rings.
I never had the car up on a lift, but from what I saw looking under both sides of the car the undercarriage, floors, and frame all still look in good condition from everywhere I inspected. It is very hard to find any 1970's muscle car in this condition. The headliner looks nice as well as the dash pad. I didn't see any imperfections in the dash pad. The sport steering wheel is still in nice condition but needs some work to attach it correctly to make the horn button work. The ignition key was lost somewhere during the commotion of that life threatening tragedy of the gentleman who owned the car, so a replacement ignition was installed to sell me the car. All the parts are included to attach the horn button properly. There is a factory AM/FM Stereo, but I'm not getting any sound. So, making that play will be up to the winning bidder. This dash was not cut up like what was typically done back in the day to fit aftermarket stereos. I saw no evidence of this car ever being involvedin any accidents. Except there is some discoloration on the right rear of the tail panel. That touch up does not affect the paint on the fiberglass body. I am selling this Stingray with an open, clean, and cleartitle that was just issued in my name last monthfrom the State of Wisconsin.I went to get the title transferred to my name as soon as the car was delivered to me.
The J.D. Powers Nada Classic Car Price Guide currently has the 1976 Corvette Stingray with a 350 and a 4-speed listed at$30,925in high condition, which theyconsider an excellent overall vehicle that was completely restored, or an original vehicle showing very minimal wear. Note: This value does not represent a 100-point show car or a #1 vehicle. Those vehicles can reach much higher prices.
Theaverage condition value is$17,150which theyconsider in good overall condition that could be an older restoration or a well-maintained original vehicle that is completely operable. The exterior paint, trim, and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out. They say an average condition car is considered a20-Footer!
They have the lowest condition valued at$12,625being considered a deteriorated restoration or a very poor restoration, but mostly usable "As-Is!" The lowest value does not represent a parts car but would be considered as the price for a car needing a complete restoration. The numbers don't lie! These type of Stingray's especially with a 4-speed are very valuable. Many times these muscle cars bring much higher prices crossing the auction block at live muscle car auctions.
