1966 Chevrolet Corvair 500

Greetings,
Watch a full walk through of this 66 Corvair race car tribute on YouTube, here: https://youtu.be/q01ZZnnjsmo
I purchased this 66 Corvair approximately five years ago. As a car guy and engineer, I enjoy owning something I have never worked on, keeping them for about five years, enjoying them, and making them better than I received them. I've owned Lamborghinis, Vipers, Ratrods, hotrod Camaros, Trans Ams, bikes, etc...
And that is the story of this beautiful Corvair. I had never owned a Porche or any other rear-engine air-cooled flat six, and the Corvair (to me) is more beautiful and intriguing than any foreign vehicle of this configuration.
On the day of purchase, I drove it 200 miles back home without issue. With such low miles, she had sat on and off over the years, so I simply embarked on refreshing her.
New Parts:
Freshly rebuilt carbs from a well-known builder. (Originals included in sale)Distributor, internals, points, plate, condenser, rotor cap, coil.Plugs, wires.Battery.2nd Gen Corvette adjustable polyurethane rear Strut Rods.Brake pads, drums, slaves, springs, Master cylinder. (Blead, no leaks. Hands off the wheel under hard braking, and there is no deviation. Stops on a dime.)
Engine setup and tuning were done strictly through the factory setup guide, including vacuum balancing and timing.
A single coil was removed from the front springs to level out the stance.
The aluminum wheels were professionally painted body color in the centers, then 2k automotive cleared. The outer rings were left polished. The white letters on the tires are simply glued on. If someone wishes, they can simply be removed.
All decals are vinyl and easily removed if desired.
All windows are tinted except the windshield.
Fold down rear seat.
Needs: All imperfections are outlined in the video on the YouTube link above.
There isn't a lot of maintenance needed on this Corvair. It does drip one or two spots a week like most Vairs, but a guy could go through the pushrod tube seals to rectify that. I believe this car is worth well over 20k once that is done. One small crack in the paint at the bottom of the driver A-pillar, like many Vairs have. Small scratch under the rear passenger fender behind the tire, noticeable on one's knees. Small imperfection repaired on front bench seat.
Those in the know will recognize these cars are on the rise in value, and you rarely see them in this condition. This Corvair is an excellent investment opportunity!
Not to mention the enjoyment factor! Every age loves this little race car! I get nothing but love everywhere this little jewel goes...
