1964 Chevrolet Corvair Camper

This rare van was removed on December 10,2020 from an estate in Palmdale California where it was parked since 1985. I had it towed to my residence in Frazier Park California and started working on her during the pandemic. I rebuilt the carburetors and replaced/rebuilt all the necessary parts to get her running and driving. I also changed the dried out push rod tube and oil cooler seal that were dried out and leaking.

Master cylinder, brake lines, generator brushes, belt, oil, filter, fuel pump, points, cap, rotor, wires, plugs, tires, eccetra are all new. Parts are plentiful and inexpensive for this van. The camper conversion must have been done in the early days of it’s life as all the panels behind the wood is like new.

I applied for a one day pass through the DMV to drive the van to my local highway petrol station to complete a vehicle identification inspection. I have a clear California title in my name. The van drove very nice and since it’s a forward control it’s very fun to drive.

Now that everything’s back to normal the van has been sitting under a tent for the past year waiting for me to send her off to get the front bench seat upholstered and to get her painted….

I’ve come to the realization that that’s just not going to happen as I’m too busy with work and maintaining my other vehicles.

I know I will regret selling this rare find, but I already own thirteen vehicles that are currently registered and insured that I drive and show. So the reality is this van was the last vehicle to join my fleet so it has to be the first to go.
