1969 Camaro Z/28 "X77D80"
1969 Chevrolet Camaro
1969 Chevrolet Camaro. I've owned this beautiful Z/28 for almost 9 years. I purchased it from Hendrick Performance near me in Charlotte. Engine was recently overhauled by a well known racing engine machine shop in Mooresville, NC. It was this engines "first" overhaul since it was new. Over the years I have replaced, upgraded many items and some drivetrain components, interior, odds and ends, way too many to list here. Buyer can email me to discuss this further. I have the title in hand and it is clean. Total miles are unknown. The odometer has never worked correctly since I bought it. But with the condition of the car and its age I believe the miles are irrelevant. Since the engine overhaul I estimate that it only has about 700 miles or less. I drive it very rarely and never in the rain. I am selling because it is time for me to do something different. I have really enjoyed this Camaro. Let me be clear. This is a "real" Z/28 via the VIN number NCRS research and trim tag on the firewall. It is 'NOT" a clone or Tribute car. This car was built first week of Sept 1969 so it is a late run production Z/28. It was built with a black vinyl top but later removed during the restoration which was done about 20 years ago. (Noted on trim tag) I actually prefer it this way. It was delivered for sale to the Chevy dealer in Philadelphia which at the time Roger Penske was part owner of. His very first dealership. This is documented. However it is not complete "numbers matching" but is "period correct" and my pricing reflects this. The engine does not have a VIN stamp on it to match the vehicle which was typical for an engine swap. So it does not have a VIN number from another vehicle. The overhaul shop did confirm that it was a standard 4 inch bore when they overhauled it. It was bored to .030 over to clean up the cylinder walls. The block was in such good condition that it did not need to be decked. They confirmed it was the first overhaul of this engine. They suggested that the engine could have been a warranty or other replacement from long ago. But it is a complete engine "real deal" 302DZ with the familiar block date stamp and DZ stamp from Chevy on the right front cylinder plain area. It is equipped as a Z/28 would have been from the factory from the engine, transmission, rear end, power steering, power brakes and many other items. Obviously if it were a "numbers matching" car the price would be higher. I did have a set of Hedman Headers installed a few years back and I kept the cast iron manifolds that will accompany the sale and a few other items that I kept for the next owner. Happy bidding.
