Description:
1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS 350
There aren't many vintage cars that say high performance better than a 1969 Chevrolet Camaro. This particular Dusk Blue beauty features a healthy, numbers-matching 350 V8 small block, a smooth-shifting automatic transmission, sizzling paint, great factory options, and a very comfortable blue interior. If you've been searching for a clean 1st generation Camaro that runs great, is beautiful enough to show, and is also daily-driver friendly, this may very well be your car.Originally born a rather drab Dover White, this '69 Camaro was resprayed a few years ago to a handsome shade of Dusk Blue that is pretty enough to show-off with great pride. And we certainly aren't complaining about the color change, because has anybody ever complained about a blue Camaro? Never! Fortunately, the workmanship is very good, so the shiny paint works with super straight bodywork to offer a combination that truly stands out and someone was sweating the details when it was going together. A functional cowl certainly helps, as does the front chin spoiler, and it's been treated to silver hockey-stick stripes, one of three patterns available on early Camaros, and these particular stripes have been expertly applied with paint, not decals. The finish is of excellent driver quality and only shows minor imperfections, with a shine that turns heads everywhere it goes, further punctuated by the contrast provided from the black vinyl roof. Panel fit is quite good as well, with doors that close easily and a trunk lid spoiler that sits right and with those stripes stretching from nose to door, there's really no place for shoddy workmanship to hide. The bumper up front was painted to match the body, whereas the rear bumper features a set of bumper guards, and the blacked-out tail panel, 3-section taillights, and correct badging all point to a proper SS pedigree, although without a factory buildsheet we may truly never know.
Referring to the interior as being simply "refurbished" would do it a disservice - it's essentially new everywhere you look. The durable blue upholstery on the front buckets and rear bench seat carry the original pattern that was one of Chevy's most dynamic styling cues in its time and looks outright awesome over the expanse of fresh blue carpeting below. Take your position in the driver's seat and you'll find a dash area in front of you that's also looking great, with working gauges in the instrument cluster and a straight, supple looking dash pad on top showing no cracks or oxidation. Fresh woodgrain accents have been applied to the dash and center console (and the two-spoke steering wheel as well), which features a correct SS-spec gauge package and a desirable horseshoe shifter that manages the TH350 automatic transmission below. The factory A/C blows cold R-134a-treated air throughout the cabin, and even the original Delco AM radio in the dash is still functional. The back seat looks almost untouched, while out back the trunk is properly fitted with a correct mat (that could very well be original to the car), along with an original space-saver tire and original jack.
Power comes from a strong and reliable 350 cubic inch V8 - the numbers-matching small block that was originally born in this Camaro. The stock-looking engine bay is nicely detailed and features all the right components, ranging from the big snorkeled air cleaner to the Chevy Orange engine block and matching valve covers. Up top, an original intake carries a correct 4-barrel carburetor for easy breathing, a stock ignition system helps it crank fast, and original exhaust manifolds feed into the upgrade dual exhaust system that sounds great. The powerful V8 starts right up with ease, it runs great like all properly-tuned small block Chevys, and you shouldn't be afraid to drive this one for many miles to come. Underneath, you'll find a TH350 3-speed automatic transmission, a Flowmaster-style dual exhaust system, and a 10-bolt rear end that easily handles all the power. Newer shocks help with the great ride quality, and with power steering and power front disc brakes, every trip out in this car is delight. The finishing touch is a set of original Chevy Division 15-inch Rally wheels wearing 225/60/15 BFGoodrich T/A white-letter performance radials.
