Description:

1962 Chevrolet Impala SS

****Relisted due to non-paying high bidder*** So please, if you dont intend on buying, I'm asking you not to bid. Up for auction is a 1962 Chevrolet impala SS convertible. . . Engine is a 283 cid with a 2 barrel carb. Transmission is a 2 speed powerglide. Odometer shows 55626 miles. I can't prove its original miles, so I'm not selling as such. Its a very complete, original car so it is possible. Car sat in a pole barn for approx 20 years. I installed a reproduction fuel tank, new fuel meter, changed oil and filter, dropped in a new battery and it fired right up. Engine runs strong once warmed up. I believe the choke is not working correctly. Transmission shifts good. Installed a new master cylinder and 4 new wheel cylinders. The brake line from front to rear leaks and needs replaced. I disconnected so only front brakes operate. Installed 4 new tires. I have driven car approx 10 miles. Has vibration on acceleration that feels like bad u-joint, goes away when coasting. All windows roll up and down. Windshield has scratches and should be replaced. Convertible top material is in good shape. The rear window is glass. The material around rear glass tore so it's unzipped and laying in the back. The power top motor runs but I think its weak. Top will go down if you assist it. Seems to go up fine though, just a little slow. Door panels are good, but carpet on bottom is loose and faded. Car has been completely repainted and paint is "20 footer". Paint on trunk lid is peeling. Other spots on car paint is peeling as well. I believe there has been body work done at some point in its life. The seats look in amazing shape under plastic seat covers. I would guess they were installed when new or shortly after as they are hog ringed on. I was going to remove and inspect but I don't think the covers would go back on. Carpet is bad and needs replaced. Speedometer works but its a little jumpy. Fuel gauge works. Cold start light works. AM radio comes on but it buzzes. Door locks, trunk lock, glove box lock and console locks work as they should. Glove box liner nice. Original owners manual and top manual in glove box. The trunk floors are ok but not perfect. They have had some patches installed. Same with the floor pans. Large patches installed. They would be fine for a "driver" but if you want to restore they need replaced. A couple of the body mounts in rear need work. SS Side trim in great shape. Rear bumper has a couple dents. Front bumper has a few small rust spots that may clean off. The original SS hubcaps are included, there are 6 of them. I had the dog dish caps and installed because I liked them, just my opinion. They will be included as well.There are also a set of SBC headers that will be included.Codes are as follows;

The Good
Very complete car and I believe mostly original. Still retains two T3 headlamps. Would be a easy car to make weekend driver quality car or an excellent start to restoration project. Engine strong and no smoke or noise. New fuel tank and meter installed.
The Bad
Trunk floors and main floors could use work as described, and couple body mounts are bad. All fixable. Paint is not great but has a ton of patina.
Its a 58 year old car. It needs work. I am not selling as a perfect car because its not. I have described the car as best I can. I encourage you to send questions and If possible come and inspect. I do have more pictures or will email whatever pictures you would like. I want you to be happy with the purchase.
Immediate $500.00 non refundable deposit at auction end and balance due in 7 days. We can communicate what payment works best. I don't sell cars and don't have a carrier so transportation will be chosen and paid by purchaser. No warranty written or implied. Sold As-Is.

I forgot to mention....It appears the heater core might have leaked. It is disconnected and is bypassed on engine. Also I believe its the original spare in trunk along with jack/wrench. I just want to make sure everything I can think of is listed. PLEASE ask any questions you wish.
