Description:
1957 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 Fuel Injected Convertible
This is one of the rarest opportunities you are ever going to have in classic cars. This is an ultra-rare 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air fuel-injected convertible. And this fuelie drop-top has been given an excellent frame-off restoration so that the highly correct and valuable components are given a time capsule-like presentation. And not only is the presentation award-worthy, but also you get to tell the story of an exceptional Chevy that has also been with one owner for nearly all its life so far. This is the kind of car we all dream about. After all, you can't get more all-American than a '57 Bel Air convertible. But what makes this one so unique is that the it has been under the same ownership since 1959. Oh yes, this one has been cared for under the same roof long before the classic car market made these fuel-injected '57s one of the hottest tickets around. It was even given a multi-year full frame-off restoration where the aim was to really return it to its glory days. And that was slightly easier on this one, because the owner was there to experience the early days with this one! That's why the factory-correct Onyx Black has a brighter shine than a polished patent leather shoe. And the way the light rolls evenly across the panels will fill you with pride every time you take this one out into the Sunday sunshine. The straight sheetmetal like this is a must-have, because it makes the iconic full-length trim look like an unbroken line. This dark color also allows to really show off the rest of the brightwork. The artful front bumper with integrated grille, dual rocket-like hood ornaments, factory wheel covers, and gold anodized trim are all part of a stunning package that lets you know you're in the presence of a superior Chevy.
The black convertible top looks just a as pristine as the rest of the car, and so this one looks terrific with it in place. The power mechanism has been preserved, which is just another sign of the extra care that has gone into this car. However, it won't take much to get the top ready to go down, and we know this has the kind of interior you want to showcase. After all, the bold red is one of the most attractive combinations against the deep black exterior, and there's also a nice gray that goes with all the brightwork inside this classic. There was a huge investment inside to make sure you got a true time capsule feeling. It's seen everywhere, right down to the details. So when it comes time for car show judging, you'll love opening the door to show the working courtesy lights, pointing out the button-top seatbacks, checking the time of the working clock, and finding some tunes on the AM radio.
This was born a fuel-injection convertible, and today it retains an EK suffix block. That means it has the 1957-correct fuelie motor made with the desirable high-lift camshaft. They called this the Duntov Cam after the legendary GM engineer who injected serious power into cars like the Corvette, and he even occasionally shared that high-octane bravado with cars like this Bel Air, too. And since this car has spent over 60 years under the same ownership, this is believed to be the original motor. It even has a 1957-correct Rochester fuel injection system. The full presentation is a masterpiece for vintage eyes with a glossy black background for all your favorite details, like the Fuelie's specific intake, Chevrolet script on the valve covers, correct generator. Also, don't forget to look at the undercarriage photos where the fresh presentation and correct red oxide is award-worthy all on its own. And while this one has had so few miles since its restoration, you must experience this FI machine. Especially since the three-speed manual transmission gives you full control over this special powerhouse.
This is an absolutely unique and rare Chevy with a terrific story to tell. That's why the sale also comes with a magazine feature story, as well as a full photobook documenting the ownership and restoration history. This car is a legacy, and it's looking for a true collector to continue carrying its torch.
