I have up for sale a 62 Chevy II Sport Coupe 400 W/Chassis Works Suspension, and Wilwood Brakes. I had planned a 500hp LS motor with six speed trans to make a track car, and maybe chase down some Porsches and Corvettes, but life got in the way and put my plans in the back burner. Many projects later and now it’s up for sale. The first 3 photos of the car as I purchased it, the second 2 the state it’s in, started disassembling. Little more about the car, The 400 was the top of the line with the desirable no post sport coupe roof same as the SS, and this car came with bucket seats, so the only difference being from a 63 SS is that this has a column shift and the SS would have a console shift, but both would have the 194 6 cyl and powerglide transmission. V8 wouldn’t come till 64. The 62 400 also came with one year only scallop trim on front fenders rare with no reproductions and can sell for $300-$400 witch I have the full set, also power steering and padded dash. The Chris Alston's Chassisworks suspension was the best you could buy at the time costing me $6500 with the wilwood 6 piston clapper and 14” two piece rotors with aluminum hubs that cost over $2,000 alone. The only parts I don’t have for the suspension are the coil springs for the adjustable billet shocks and the inner fenders, these still can be purchased from chassisworks. You pick the spring rate and if you want the Chassisworks logo on the inner fenders, or not. Cost about $200-$250 for each item. There’s new door hinges $200 and straightened and rechromed bumpers $350. The front driver and passenger floors are rusted but I have new ones, the rest of the floors and rockers are good. The trunk and left quarter is buckled but should easily pull out, rust in the lower rear quarter panels but have new replacements also for the inner truck drop downs we have new ones. The chassisworks has a power steering rack so you can sell the original power steering with brackets for some good money. I’ve seen others ask $5k for a sedan post car, you buy this car for $7,800 with the chassisworks costing $6500, door hinges, and bumper rechrome about $500. You’ll be paying about $800 for the car. This is a great project car, please ask questions before buying, Buyer must pay for and arrange for shipping, seller will assist shipper at arrival.
