Description:

1978 Chevrolet C-10

**Listed as Chevy C-10 as ebay does not have an option for C20 or GMC C25 Pickup trucks**

Up for sale is my 53K Mile, Original/Unrestored 1978 GMC C25 Sierra Classic with Deluxe "Z83" Camper Special package.
This truck is an absolute time capsule, and one would be VERY hard-pressed to find a 1978 pickup truck as nice as this anywhere in the country. I have been "driving/collecting" 60's and 70's Chevrolet/GMC pickup trucks for 30 years, and this is by far the nicest, lowest mile square-body "survivor" I have owned. Truck truly is in AMAZING condition for it's age.
From 1978 through 2019, this was used ONLY during summer months for camping and pulling a small horse trailer. It still had a 12' "slide-in" pickup camper (not included) installed when I purchased.Vehicle has been stored indoors for its entire life, which is evident by how nice the original Mariner Blue/Light Blue paint still shines. This vehicle has NEVER seen winter, and is 99.9% rust free. The only spot of rust is a small "dime-sized" area on lower front fender from dirt/moisture being trapped between the inner/outer layers of steel. I have taken a close-up photo of this area with my finger pointing to it. When I say that this is the "only" spot, I truly mean it. Original owner had rust proofing applied to door bottoms, back sides of rockers, and underhood areas. The vast majority of this rust-proofing is still intact (seen in door bottom photos) with ZERO rust beneath its protective surface..
Once again... ZERO body or underside rust anywhere else on this truck...Not even surface rust.
Yes, there are a few minor dings and scratches here and there, and the bed floor has a small and easily repaired (less than 2" long) dent/tear where the airbag mount was rubbing from below. I have also taken a close-up photo of this area as well, but these are basically the only cosmetic issues worth noting. The Mariner (darker) blue portion of the tailgate has been repainted sometime in the past, and while not a perfect match, looks fine, and does not detract from overall condition of the truck.
I have owned trucks from Texas, Arizona, Montana, California, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, etc... and this particular truck rises above them all. Especially, when you realize that this is, for the most part...as it left the factory 42 years ago... Amazing!
The GMC Sierra Classic Camper Special was as "Highly Optioned" of a truck as one could purchase in 1978. Identical to the Chevrolet C-20 3/4 Ton Silverado Package, but some would argue that GMC trucks were built a bit "better".
Features/Options include:
7.4 Liter (454) Big Block V8Turbo Hydromatic 400 Transmission3.73 Rear DifferentialAir ConditioningCruiseTiltPower SteeringHeavy Duty power disc brakesPower Door LocksCloth Interior (virtually flawless)Dual gas tanks (transfer switch works perfectly with accurate gauge on both tanks)Intermittent wipers2-Tone PaintZ83 Camper package which consists of "Elimipitch" shock absorbing camper tie-downs and cab-to-bed stabilization. Front and Rear Sway Bars, Heavy duty cooling, Heavy duty charging system, Etc.
All of the above works perfectly aside from Cruise Control which needs a new cable to function. Air conditioning was upgraded to R-134 and is ICE COLD!Engine starts, runs, and drives as you would expect one with such few miles on it.... PERFECTLY.
There are no odd noises, smoke, etc. Engine does not burn/use oil. Engine does have a couple of minor age-related oil leaks as to be expected from rear main and valve cover gaskets. Nothing catastrophic, but needing to be mentioned. I have yet to own an old pickup that doesn't leave at least a couple of drips on the floor!
Needless to say, I would not hesitate to jump in this truck and drive it cross country TODAY, so YES!.... A "fly-n-drive" would be a great way to bring this ol' girl home.
Truck is so quiet and "tight", you will swear that you are driving something 35 years newer. It is an absolute Joy to drive, and the thumbs-up! you get when driving this thing is actually quite surprising!
In the last year, the truck has received new Firestone tires, new front brakes (calipers/rotors/lines), rear brake cylinders/shoes, new rebuilt Quadrajet carburetor (as mentioned, starts/runs flawlessly), new 2 1/2" aluminized dual exhaust with stainless magnaflow mufflers. Exhaust has a nice "big block" sound without being overly noisy. I also installed a new stainless steel grill as the original plastic grill (included) had the typical missing piece by the hood release. Truck will also come with a complete set of (not shown) brand new LMC stainless bed rail and tail gate/bulk head caps. I was going to install, but will leave that up to the next owner!
I could go on and on, but I will let the photos do the rest of the talking....
All in all, this is a VERY SPECIAL TRUCK. They are only ORIGINAL ONCE!
