1960 Chevrolet Impala Bubble Top

The 1960 Chevrolet Impala is one of the most interesting cars in this long-standing nameplate. Some of the most iconic styling elements were combined for this year only. So to find the unique style with a great original color combo and an awesome-looking upgraded V8, it really makes for one special coupe you'll happily cruise everywhere.

The bubble top design of this hardtop, with its skinny c-pillar and wraparound rear window is iconic. The front end was toned down from the '59s, which makes the wraparound chrome bumpers look sleeker. The tailfin is so massive and integral that it starts at the door and doesn't end until the trunk lock (some stylists said the idea was these tailfins were getting so large they really had to lay them on their side!) Running the same length as the fin is the cool jet inspired white and chrome trim that's a hallmark of these premium speedy Chevys. And when the white streak combines with the factory-correct Roman Red, it gives this couple the all-American appeal of a Coca-Cola bottle. But what makes the 1960 car so special was the return of the now-iconic triple taillight arrangement that came to symbolize the premium Chevrolet coupe. Plus, those chrome dual exhaust tips, dual aerials, and 15-inch American Racing Torq Thrust wheels are upgrades showing off some sporty flair.

The '60s were all about great color coordination inside and out, so the red and white interior seem like an extension of the exterior theme for a very cool uniform feeling. This has all the right classic features, like the artful steering wheel, sporty pod-style gauges, and well-done correct-style carpeting. They even left the original AM radio on display (but your real driving music comes from the upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo and upgraded speakers.) There is room for improvement on this car. You may want to redo the seats or get a professional polish on the paint. But the value price on this desirable bubble top means you get a complete and sharp coupe today, and it leaves room in the budget to give you the choice for how and when you want to add your personal touch. Plus, the upgraded Hurst floor shifter, auxiliary gauge trio, and column-mounted tach are all signs that they already upgraded the engine bay nicely.

Open the hood to see a crisp and clean V8 package radiating within the dark inner walls. This even has the right details, like a bright Edelbrock air grabber and the classic Mickey Thompson finned valve covers. The 350 cubic-inch V8 is one of the most versatile motors Chevy ever made, and while it was still a few years away when this Impala first hit the streets, we're glad they made the upgrade now. It even makes upgraded power thanks to the Edelbrock four-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock intake. Plus, there are all the right supporting pieces, like an Optima red top battery, Accel Hi-temp wires, Mr. Gasket fuel pressure gauge, new belts and hoses, and a Harrison radiator. So with this kind of investment, it's no wonder this V8 fires up readily and gives a sweet tune to the dual exhaust. It makes for a coupe you really want to drive. And not only do you have this big Chevy's legendary supple ride, but also a three-speed automatic transmission, modern BF Goodrich T/As, and front disc brakes to make cursing easy.

Bubble top Impalas have their own stratosphere of cool, and so you know how seldom they are within budget. Don't miss this deal, call today!
