1955 Chevrolet Bel Air/150/210 FRAME-OFF ROTISSOURIE CRUISER

Beautiful and show winning 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air hardtop finished in original ’55 Chevy two tone colors of Gypsy Red and Shore Line Beige. The interior was done in similar factory colors and material including the carpet and headliner. Everything is new, refinished, or NOS (new old stock) no nut or bolt was left untouched. A detailed photo album showing the build is included.

Power comes from a rebuilt stock ‘60’s era 327 c.i. small block treated to 2.02 heads, Edelbrock 500 cfm carburetor, and intake. The ignition system is an HEI unit which is made to look stock.

Although there is no power steering nor power brakes they have been upgraded using bearings on the idler arm (vs bushings) and a dual master cylinder with a proportioning valve, disc braces up front and drums out back to help on the stopping power.

Electrically the car has a new harness throughout the car. All lights and gauges function like new including the clock. The radio is an AM/FM replacement unit which looks original.

This was a total ‘frame off’, ‘rotisserie’ restoration which was started in 2013 and completed in 2015. A total of only 11,000 miles have been logged on the ’55 attending local shows and events.

A couple of areas of imperfection which include a small stain on the rear seat and a small crack on the rear valance panel. See photos.

BODY & PAINT:

New body panels welded in place (no bondo) which include:

Floors and firewall from rear trunk edge forward

Replaced the frame from a donor ‘55

New doors

Completely new inner and outer rear quarter and rocker panels.

Front fenders, roof, and trunk lid are original.

2-stage urethane paint work.

All new windows, chrome, weather stripping, and stainless.

New wiring harness.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION:

1960’s vintage 327 c.i. small block Chevy bored .030” over.

Stock Chevrolet internal components including 10:1 compression ratio pistons and a hydraulic cam. (runs on pump gas).

2.02 “Camel Hump” heads treated to a three-angle valve job.

Edelbrock intake manifold and 500 cfm carburetor w/electric choke.

HEI electronic ignition.

Dual exhaust w/ ‘Smitty’ style mufflers.

New fuel lines and gas tank.

Rebuilt to stock Turbo-hydromatic 3-speed automtic transmission.

INTERIOR:

Reupholstered and reconditioned stock bench seats.

New door panels, carpeting, and headliner.

Reconditioned stock gauges and lights.

New heater and core.

After market AM/FM radio which looks like the original item.

New clock.

CHASSIS & SUSPENSION:

Replaced frame from a sedan with welded in extra supports for a hardtop/convertible.

All new stock suspension using urethane bushings where applicable.

Stock manual steering w/modified idler arm kit.

New brake system using dual master cylinder, proportioning valve, disc brakes up front and drums in the rear.

New ‘Coker’ wide white wall radial 205 x 75R x 15 tires.
