1966 Chevrolet El Camino complete project
1966 Chevrolet El Camino
1966 Chevrolet El Camino
Been collecting and stashing new parts for this El Camino for almost 3 years. At last count, over $11,000+ in it, not counting my labor. Moving must sell!
Body was removed and frame was completely cleaned then painted in gloss black paint. Drum brakes in front were replaced with all new disc brake conversion. Also have all new suspension components for front end (upper/lower ball joints, etc.). Have all new body bolts for it. Had a manual steering box and removed it when frame was restored. Will need a rebuilt Saginaw power steering box. Steering not connected, but has wheel/column in car.
All the original glass appears good including front windshield.
This an Idaho car (Dry, arid high desert climate-Ideal for classic car preservation). Very little rust on this car. The passenger rear quarter behind the wheel is rusted out and have new patch panel for it. Some rust showing on front passenger quarter behind wheel, but minor and easily repaired. No rust in the floor pans. Body lines line up well. Passenger front fender not fully bolted. Lots of body work already done. Filled in all trim holes on driver’s side and all but door on passenger side. Body panels are straight.
They did not make a 66 El Camino SS, but I have a 66 Chevelle SS hood for it (no SS trim pieces, but available online). The hood is rough (bondo), but repairable.
Has bucket seats and at some point, it had a 4 speed in it. See pedals and hole in hump. Nice looking instrument panel. I’m told that a 66 Chevelle SS instrument panel bolts in and gives you all the gauges including tach.
There are tons of new parts that are included with this car. Brand new in box power brake booster. Brand new 2.5†dual stainless exhaust including stainless mufflers. New door panels, new carpet kit. Bolt kits, body mounting kit. Also have all the original SS molding that was removed from the car. Has the headlight trim and new grille. Only have one bumper and believe it is the front one. Rear one missing.
Bought a good running 350 Chevy V8 that came out of a 1968 Camaro. Had a carb fire and burned the carb, intake and distributor, but bought a nice Holley double pumper carb, an Edelbrock Victor Jr aluminum intake and new distributor for it. Also comes with a an extra (good).010/.010 4 bolt main bare block and extra crankshaft. New four core radiator included. Too much new stuff to list.
Also bought a good used Saginaw 4 speed and have the flywheel (machined) and pressure plate for it. No shifter or linkage for Saginaw.
No shocks attached in rear, so low rider. Both the front had rear suspension have been lowered slightly. Dropped spindles in front and shorter coils in rear. Believe its lowered about 1†front and rear.
Comes with Weld Racing aluminum modular wheels or replace with Torque Thrust D vintage mags or Legend mags from Summit for about $425?? Tires were great, but now weather checked and the passenger rear is bad from sitting flat. Will put a tire on, so it is a roller.
I have many more pictures of extras that the 24-photo limit does not allow me to post, but can provide. Have pics of all the new parts and pics of the engine, block, transmission, double hump 2:02 heads, etc. Tried to show the body and floor pan clearly.
Offering car locally and reserve the right to sell it locally and end the auction early. Priced at $9,750 locally, but set eBay reserve much lower. Must sell!
In Australia, these are called a ‘UTE’, as a utility vehicle. The convenience of a pickup, but the ride and interior of a 1966 Chevelle A Body car. Super practical and cool.
NADA guides show the Base Price (no options-std 6 cyl. engine) at $12,650 for low retail, $24,100 for average retail (decent looking driver) and $34,900 for restored one. This had the potential to be a really cool custom low rider. It could be the 66 El Camino SS the factory never built.
Will require a non-operable transport. My zip is 83651 in Nampa, Idaho. Google Auto Transport Quotes for several competitive quotes from this location to yours.
